The Manifest Quran 88

Introduction of Surah

al-Ghashiya is the 88th sura of the Qur’an, which means ‘The Overwhelming Calamity’ or ‘The Enveloping Calamity’, and takes its name from the 1st verse. It belongs to the Meccan period and comprises 26 verses, 92 words, 381 letters, and 1 segment. It is the 68th sura in chronological order, revealed after Sura al-Dhariyat. The sura begins by mentioning the Day of Resurrection and its description. Then sura gives a delightful description of Paradise, and invites the people to reflect on the wonders of God Almighty’s Creation.
