Introduction of Surah

al-Humaza is the 104th sura of the Qur’an, which means ‘The Slanderer’, and takes its name from the 1st verse. The sura belongs to the Meccan period and comprises 9 verses, 33 words, 130 letters, and 1 segment. It is the 32nd sura in chronological order, revealed after Sura al-Qiyama. The sura commences with a severe warning to those who consume their lives by seizing money, withholding wealth as well as slandering and backbiting. The sura concludes by stating that such people will be thrown in the Fire of Hell, tightly enclosed with long pillars.
