Introduction of Surah
al-Jathiya is the 45th sura of the Qur’an, which means ‘The Kneeling’. It derives its name from verse 28, which refers to every faithful community kneeling on the Day of Judgement. It belongs to the Meccan period and comprises 37 verses, 480 words, 2,190 letters, and 4 segments. It is the 65th sura in chronological order, revealed after Sura al-Dukhan. The sura begins with two Mysterious Letters of the Qur’an, affirming that it is a divine revelation from God Almighty. It reiterates the signs of God in the alternating of the day and the night, sending down rain from the sky, reviving the earth after its death and shifting the winds in different directions. This sura also mentions the differences among the Israelites, emphasising that good and evil are not equal and it rejects the arguments of the deniers of the Day of Resurrection. Then, by contrast, the pains of Hell are threatened for those who reject God Almighty’s signs and blessings. The sura further speaks about the sovereignty of God Almighty over the heavens and the earth, stating that it is Almighty Allah who will assemble all humankind on the Day of Resurrection. The sura ends with a hymn of praise to God Almighty, stating that all majesty in the heavens and the earth belong to Him.

45:1. Ha-Mim.
حم
(al-Jathiya, 45 : 1)
ﭫﭬﭭﭮﭯﭰﭱﭲﭳﭴﭵﭶﭷﭸﭹﭺﭻﭼﭽﭾﭿ
45:5. And (in) the alternation of night and day, and (in) the provision (of rain) that Allah sends down from the sky whereby He revives the earth after its death, and (in) the shifting of the winds, there are signs for people who understand.
واختلاف الليل والنهار وما أنزل الله من السماء من رزق فأحيا به الأرض بعد موتها وتصريف الرياح آيات لقوم يعقلون
(al-Jathiya, 45 : 5)

45:7. Woe to every false fabricator, dreadful evildoer,
ويل لكل أفاك أثيم
(al-Jathiya, 45 : 7)
ﮰﮱﯓﯔﯕﯖﯗﯘﯙﯚﯛﯜﯝﯞﯟﯠﯡﯢﯣﯤﯥﯦ
45:10. Ahead of them (beyond the worldly life) is Hell. And whatever they have earned will not avail them in any way, nor those (idols) they have taken as guardians besides Allah. And there shall be a great punishment for them.
من ورائهم جهنم ولا يغني عنهم ما كسبوا شيئا ولا ما اتخذوا من دون الله أولياء ولهم عذاب عظيم
(al-Jathiya, 45 : 10)
ﰄﰅﰆﰇﰈﰉﰊﰋﰌﰍﰎﰏﰐﰑﰒﰓﰔﰕ
45:13. And He has subjected (through His designed laws of nature) for you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth—all is from Him. There are indeed signs in that for people who reflect.
وسخر لكم ما في السماوات وما في الأرض جميعا منه إن في ذلك لآيات لقوم يتفكرون
(al-Jathiya, 45 : 13)
ﭮﭯﭰﭱﭲﭳﭴﭵﭶﭷﭸﭹﭺﭻ
45:16. Indeed, We gave the Children of Israel the Book, Governance and Prophethood, and We granted them good provisions. And We preferred them above all (contemporary) nations.
ولقد آتينا بني إسرائيل الكتاب والحكم والنبوة ورزقناهم من الطيبات وفضلناهم على العالمين
(al-Jathiya, 45 : 16)
ﭼﭽﭾﭿﮀﮁﮂﮃﮄﮅﮆﮇﮈﮉﮊﮋﮌﮍﮎﮏﮐﮑﮒﮓﮔﮕﮖ
45:17. And We (also) gave them clear commandments regarding (their) faith. But they only differed (about it) after (explicit) knowledge had come to them, merely out of envy among themselves. Indeed, your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection regarding what they used to differ.
وآتيناهم بينات من الأمر فما اختلفوا إلا من بعد ما جاءهم العلم بغيا بينهم إن ربك يقضي بينهم يوم القيامة فيما كانوا فيه يختلفون
(al-Jathiya, 45 : 17)
ﯠﯡﯢﯣﯤﯥﯦﯧﯨﯩﯪﯫﯬﯭﯮﯯﯰﯱﯲ
45:21. Do those who perpetrate evil deeds think that We shall treat them like those who believe and perform righteous deeds, making their life and their death equal? Evil is indeed what they judge.
أم حسب الذين اجترحوا السيئات أن نجعلهم كالذين آمنوا وعملوا الصالحات سواء محياهم ومماتهم ساء ما يحكمون
(al-Jathiya, 45 : 21)
ﭑﭒﭓﭔﭕﭖﭗﭘﭙﭚﭛﭜﭝﭞﭟﭠﭡﭢﭣﭤﭥﭦﭧﭨﭩﭪ
45:23. Have you seen the one who takes his desire as his god and whom Allah has held astray despite his knowledge, set a seal upon his hearing and his heart and put a covering upon his eyes? Who then can guide him after Allah? Will you not then be mindful of advice?
أفرأيت من اتخذ إلهه هواه وأضله الله على علم وختم على سمعه وقلبه وجعل على بصره غشاوة فمن يهديه من بعد الله أفلا تذكرون
(al-Jathiya, 45 : 23)
ﭫﭬﭭﭮﭯﭰﭱﭲﭳﭴﭵﭶﭷﭸﭹﭺﭻﭼﭽﭾﭿﮀﮁﮂ
45:24. They say: ‘There is nothing but our life in this world. We die, we live, and nothing destroys us except (the passage of) time.’ But they have no knowledge (in support) of this (assumption). They only speculate.
وقالوا ما هي إلا حياتنا الدنيا نموت ونحيا وما يهلكنا إلا الدهر وما لهم بذلك من علم إن هم إلا يظنون
(al-Jathiya, 45 : 24)
ﮔﮕﮖﮗﮘﮙﮚﮛﮜﮝﮞﮟﮠﮡﮢﮣﮤﮥﮦ
45:26. Say: ‘Allah gives you life, then He causes you to die, then He will gather you (all) to the Day of Resurrection, in which there is no doubt. But most people do not know.’
قل الله يحييكم ثم يميتكم ثم يجمعكم إلى يوم القيامة لا ريب فيه ولكن أكثر الناس لا يعلمون
(al-Jathiya, 45 : 26)
ﰍﰎﰏﰐﰑﰒﰓﰔﰕﰖﰗﰘﰙﰚﰛﰜﰝﰞﰟﰠﰡﰢﰣ
45:32. And when it was said: ‘Indeed, Allah’s promise is true, and there is no doubt about the Last Hour.’ You said (mockingly): ‘We do not know what the Hour is! We think it is no more than speculation, and we are not certain (that it will ever come).’
وإذا قيل إن وعد الله حق والساعة لا ريب فيها قلتم ما ندري ما الساعة إن نظن إلا ظنا وما نحن بمستيقنين
(al-Jathiya, 45 : 32)
