Introduction of Surah

al-Qadr is the 97th sura of the Qur’an, which means ‘The Night of Power’, and takes its name from the 1st verse. The sura belongs to the Meccan period and comprises 5 verses, 30 words, 112 letters, and 1 segment. It is the 25th sura in chronological order, revealed after Sura ‘Abasa. This sura celebrates the glorious night in which the Qur’an was revealed, known as Layla al-Qadr (the Night of Power). It is one of the odd-numbered nights of the last ten from the month of Ramadan. The central theme of the sura is highligting the virtues and blessings of this special night.
