al-Naba’ is the 78th sura of the Qur’an, which means ‘The News’, and takes its name from 2nd verse, which refers to the great news of the Day of Resurrection. The sura belongs to the Meccan period and comprises 40 verses, 173 words, 816 letters, and 2 segments. It is the 80th sura in chronological order, revealed after Sura al-Ma‘arij.The sura begins with physical references to the earth and the heavens created by God Almighty, followed by a description of the Day of Judgement. The sura entirely refutes the arguments of the deniers of the Hereafter, citing certain miraculous signs of God Almighty’s creations. Then the sura mentions the horrors of the Day of Resurrection, including the painful punishments for the disbelievers, and generous rewards and physical delights of Paradise for the righteous.
