Introduction of Surah

al-Tariq is the 86th sura of the Qur’an, which means ‘The Night-Comer’, and takes its name from the 1st verse. It belongs to the Meccan period and comprises 17 verses, 61 words, 239 letters, and 1 segment. It is the 36th sura in chronological order, revealed after Sura al-Balad. The sura refers to God Almighty’s power to raise the people from the dead on the Day of Resurrection. The sura invites humans to reflect upon the humble origin of their physical beings and to remain conscious of the fact that everyone is bound to return to God Almighty. The chapter further urges the believers not to seek the hastening of the punishment for the disbelievers as they do.
