ضَرَبَ اللّٰہُ مَثَلًا لِّلَّذِیۡنَ کَفَرُوا امۡرَاَتَ نُوۡحٍ وَّ امۡرَاَتَ لُوۡطٍ ؕ کَانَتَا تَحۡتَ عَبۡدَیۡنِ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا صَالِحَیۡنِ فَخَانَتٰہُمَا فَلَمۡ یُغۡنِیَا عَنۡہُمَا مِنَ اللّٰہِ شَیۡئًا وَّ قِیۡلَ ادۡخُلَا النَّارَ مَعَ الدّٰخِلِیۡنَ ﴿۱۰﴾
10. اللہ نے اُن لوگوں کے لئے جنہوں نے کفر کیا ہے نوح (علیہ السلام) کی عورت (واعلہ) اور لوط (علیہ السلام) کی عورت (واہلہ) کی مثال بیان فرمائی ہے، وہ دونوں ہمارے بندوں میں سے دو صالح بندوں کے نکاح میں تھیں، سو دونوں نے اُن سے خیانت کی پس وہ اللہ (کے عذاب) کے سامنے اُن کے کچھ کام نہ آئے اور اُن سے کہہ دیا گیا کہ تم دونوں (عورتیں) داخل ہونے والوں کے ساتھ دوزخ میں داخل ہو جاؤo
10. Allah has given an example for the disbelievers: The wife of Nuh (Noah) and the wife of Lut (Lot). They both were under two of Our righteous servants, but they betrayed them. So, they did not benefit them against Allah in any way. It was said (to them): ‘Enter the Fire (the both of you) along with (other) incomers.’*
* Noah’s wife (Wahila) did not believe in him; she reportedly used to say that Noah was a madman. Lot’s wife (Wa‘ila) did not believe in him either; she reportedly told the disbelievers of Sodom the whereabouts of Lot’s guests. So, they both were punished along with other disbelievers.
