Is the responsibility of the prophets only to convey the message of Allah or is it also their task to persuade?

فَاِنۡ اَعۡرَضُوۡا فَمَاۤ اَرۡسَلۡنٰکَ عَلَیۡہِمۡ حَفِیۡظًا ؕ اِنۡ عَلَیۡکَ اِلَّا الۡبَلٰغُ ؕ وَ اِنَّاۤ اِذَاۤ اَذَقۡنَا الۡاِنۡسَانَ مِنَّا رَحۡمَۃً فَرِحَ بِہَا ۚ وَ اِنۡ تُصِبۡہُمۡ سَیِّئَۃٌۢ بِمَا قَدَّمَتۡ اَیۡدِیۡہِمۡ فَاِنَّ الۡاِنۡسَانَ کَفُوۡرٌ ﴿۴۸﴾

48. پھر (بھی) اگر وہ رُوگردانی کریں تو ہم نے آپ کو اُن پر (تباہی سے بچانے کا) ذمّہ دار بنا کر نہیں بھیجا۔ آپ پر تو صرف (پیغامِ حق) پہنچا دینے کی ذمّہ داری ہے، اور بیشک جب ہم انسان کو اپنی بارگاہ سے رحمت (کا ذائقہ) چکھاتے ہیں تو وہ اس سے خوش ہو جاتا ہے اور اگر انہیں کوئی مصیبت پہنچتی ہے اُن کے اپنے ہاتھوں سے آگے بھیجے ہوئے اعمالِ (بد) کے باعث، تو بیشک انسان بڑا ناشکر گزار (ثابت ہوتا) ہےo

48. And if they turn away (from your warnings), We have not sent you as a keeper over them. Your responsibility is only to communicate (the truth). Indeed, when We cause human being to taste mercy from Us, he rejoices in it. And if an evil befalls them because of what their hands have sent forth, then human beings are indeed very ungrateful.

(الشُّوْرٰی، 42 : 48)
