اَلنَّبِیُّ اَوۡلٰی بِالۡمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ مِنۡ اَنۡفُسِہِمۡ وَ اَزۡوَاجُہٗۤ اُمَّہٰتُہُمۡ ؕ وَ اُولُوا الۡاَرۡحَامِ بَعۡضُہُمۡ اَوۡلٰی بِبَعۡضٍ فِیۡ کِتٰبِ اللّٰہِ مِنَ الۡمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ وَ الۡمُہٰجِرِیۡنَ اِلَّاۤ اَنۡ تَفۡعَلُوۡۤا اِلٰۤی اَوۡلِیٰٓئِکُمۡ مَّعۡرُوۡفًا ؕ کَانَ ذٰلِکَ فِی الۡکِتٰبِ مَسۡطُوۡرًا ﴿۶﴾

6. The Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) is closer to the believers than their (own) souls,* while his wives are their mothers. The blood relatives are more entitled to inherit from one another according to the Book of Allah than (the rest of) the believers and the emigrants unless you show kindness to your close friends (through bequest). All this is written in the Book.

Or: The Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) has a greater right and authority over the believers than they have over themselves.

Or: The Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) should be considered and felt more beloved by the believers than their own selves.
