259. Or likewise, (the account of) the one who passed by a town and it had fallen into ruins? He (‘Uzayr [Ezra]) said: ‘How will Allah revive this after its death?’ So Allah caused him to die for a hundred years, and then He raised him to life. He asked: ‘How long have you remained (in this state)?’ He said: ‘I have remained a day or a part of a day.’ Allah said: ‘No! You have remained (like this for) a hundred years. Look at your food and drink; it has not changed with time. (Now) look at your donkey (how it is reduced to bones). (This is) so that We may make you a sign for the people. (Now) observe the bones—how We bring them together and then clothe them with flesh.’ When it became evident to him, he said: ‘I know (now) that Allah is All-Capable of everything.’

أو كالذي مر على قرية وهي خاوية على عروشها قال أنى يحيـي هـذه الله بعد موتها فأماته الله مئة عام ثم بعثه قال كم لبثت قال لبثت يوما أو بعض يوم قال بل لبثت مئة عام فانظر إلى طعامك وشرابك لم يتسنه وانظر إلى حمارك ولنجعلك آية للناس وانظر إلى العظام كيف ننشزها ثم نكسوها لحما فلما تبين له قال أعلم أن الله على كل شيء قدير
