ثُمَّ قَفَّیۡنَا عَلٰۤی اٰثَارِہِمۡ بِرُسُلِنَا وَ قَفَّیۡنَا بِعِیۡسَی ابۡنِ مَرۡیَمَ وَ اٰتَیۡنٰہُ الۡاِنۡجِیۡلَ ۬ۙ وَ جَعَلۡنَا فِیۡ قُلُوۡبِ الَّذِیۡنَ اتَّبَعُوۡہُ رَاۡفَۃً وَّ رَحۡمَۃً ؕ وَ رَہۡبَانِیَّۃَۨ ابۡتَدَعُوۡہَا مَا کَتَبۡنٰہَا عَلَیۡہِمۡ اِلَّا ابۡتِغَآءَ رِضۡوَانِ اللّٰہِ فَمَا رَعَوۡہَا حَقَّ رِعَایَتِہَا ۚ فَاٰتَیۡنَا الَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا مِنۡہُمۡ اَجۡرَہُمۡ ۚ وَ کَثِیۡرٌ مِّنۡہُمۡ فٰسِقُوۡنَ ﴿۲۷﴾

27. Then We followed them up with Our messengers, and afterwards We sent ‘Isa, son of Maryam (Jesus, son of Mary), and We gave him the Injil (the Gospel). And We instilled kindness and mercy into the hearts of those who followed him. As for monasticism, they innovated it (themselves). We did not ordain it for them, but (they invented it) only to seek Allah’s pleasure. Yet they did not observe it with proper observance. So We gave to the believers among them their (due) reward. But many of them are transgressors.
