In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the All-Merciful
وَّ ظِلٍّ مَّمۡدُوۡدٍ ﴿ۙ۳۰﴾
30. and widely extended shades,
وظل ممدود
(الْوَاقِعَة، 56 : 30)
وَّ مَآءٍ مَّسۡکُوۡبٍ ﴿ۙ۳۱﴾
31. and ever-flowing waters,
وماء مسكوب
(الْوَاقِعَة، 56 : 31)
وَّ فَاکِہَۃٍ کَثِیۡرَۃٍ ﴿ۙ۳۲﴾
32. and abundant fruits,
وفاكهة كثيرة
(الْوَاقِعَة، 56 : 32)
فَجَعَلۡنٰہُنَّ اَبۡکَارًا ﴿ۙ۳۶﴾
36. and We made them virgins,
فجعلناهن أبكارا
(الْوَاقِعَة، 56 : 36)
عُرُبًا اَتۡرَابًا ﴿ۙ۳۷﴾
37. loving, of matching age,
عربا أترابا
(الْوَاقِعَة، 56 : 37)
لِّاَصۡحٰبِ الۡیَمِیۡنِ ﴿ؕ٪۳۸﴾
38. for the People of the Right Hand.
لأصحاب اليمين
(الْوَاقِعَة، 56 : 38)
فَلَاۤ اُقۡسِمُ بِمَوٰقِعِ النُّجُوۡمِ ﴿ۙ۷۵﴾
75. So I swear by the positions of the stars.*
* It also means: ‘I swear by the places where different portions of the Qur’an are descending.’ This translation is based on the exposition given by ‘Abd Allah b. ‘Abbas, ‘Ikrima, Mujahid, ‘Abd Allah b. Jubayr, al-Suddi, al-Farra’, al-Zujaj and others. The context also denotes the same meaning. In the preceding sura, Sura al-Najm, the Holy Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) was given the title: ‘al-Najm’ (the Star), and in this verse, different Qur’anic chapters (suras) are mentioned as ‘al-nujum’ (stars). See: Tafsir al-Tabari, Ibn Abi Hatim, al-Baghawi, Ibn Kathir, al-Baydawi, al-Lubab, Abu Sa‘ud, al-Khazin, al-Durr al-Manthur, Ruh al-Ma‘ani, al-Bahr al-Muhit, al-Jumal, Zad al-Masir, Fath al-Qadir, al-Mazhari and Majma‘ al-Bayan.
فلا أقسم بمواقع النجوم
(الْوَاقِعَة، 56 : 75)
اِنَّہٗ لَقُرۡاٰنٌ کَرِیۡمٌ ﴿ۙ۷۷﴾
77. It is indeed a Noble Qur’an.
إنه لقرآن كريم
(الْوَاقِعَة، 56 : 77)
وَّ تَصۡلِیَۃُ جَحِیۡمٍ ﴿۹۴﴾
