171. O People of the Book! Do not exaggerate in your religion, and do not attribute anything to Allah except the truth. The Messiah, ‘Isa, the son of Maryam (Jesus, the son of Mary), was only a messenger of Allah and His Word, which He conveyed to Maryam (Mary) and a Spirit from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers and do not say: ‘Three.’ Refrain (from this creed)! That is better for you. Surely, Allah is the One God. He is far above having a son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And Allah suffices as a Guardian.
