In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the All-Merciful
سُوۡرَۃٌ اَنۡزَلۡنٰہَا وَ فَرَضۡنٰہَا وَ اَنۡزَلۡنَا فِیۡہَاۤ اٰیٰتٍۭ بَیِّنٰتٍ لَّعَلَّکُمۡ تَذَکَّرُوۡنَ ﴿۱﴾
1. (This is) a chapter, which We have revealed and made (its rulings) obligatory, and We have revealed in it clear communications so that you may be mindful of advice.
سورة أنزلناها وفرضناها وأنزلنا فيها آيات بينات لعلكم تذكرون
(النُّوْر، 24 : 1)
اَلزَّانِیَۃُ وَ الزَّانِیۡ فَاجۡلِدُوۡا کُلَّ وَاحِدٍ مِّنۡہُمَا مِائَۃَ جَلۡدَۃٍ ۪ وَّ لَا تَاۡخُذۡکُمۡ بِہِمَا رَاۡفَۃٌ فِیۡ دِیۡنِ اللّٰہِ اِنۡ کُنۡتُمۡ تُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ بِاللّٰہِ وَ الۡیَوۡمِ الۡاٰخِرِ ۚ وَ لۡیَشۡہَدۡ عَذَابَہُمَا طَآئِفَۃٌ مِّنَ الۡمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ ﴿۲﴾
2. As for the fornicating woman and the fornicating man, strike each of them a hundred stripes. And let not compassion for them overcome you in Allah’s law if you believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a group of believers witness their punishment.
الزانية والزاني فاجلدوا كل واحد منهما مئة جلدة ولا تأخذكم بهما رأفة في دين الله إن كنتم تؤمنون بالله واليوم الآخر وليشهد عذابهما طائفة من المؤمنين
(النُّوْر، 24 : 2)
اَلزَّانِیۡ لَا یَنۡکِحُ اِلَّا زَانِیَۃً اَوۡ مُشۡرِکَۃً ۫ وَّ الزَّانِیَۃُ لَا یَنۡکِحُہَاۤ اِلَّا زَانٍ اَوۡ مُشۡرِکٌ ۚ وَ حُرِّمَ ذٰلِکَ عَلَی الۡمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ ﴿۳﴾
3. A fornicator will not marry anyone except a fornicatress or an idolatress. And as for the fornicatress, none will (like to) marry her except a fornicator or an idolater. And this act (of premarital intercourse) is forbidden to the believers.
الزاني لا ينكح إلا زانية أو مشركة والزانية لا ينكحها إلا زان أو مشرك وحرم ذلك على المؤمنين
(النُّوْر، 24 : 3)
وَ الَّذِیۡنَ یَرۡمُوۡنَ الۡمُحۡصَنٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمۡ یَاۡتُوۡا بِاَرۡبَعَۃِ شُہَدَآءَ فَاجۡلِدُوۡہُمۡ ثَمٰنِیۡنَ جَلۡدَۃً وَّ لَا تَقۡبَلُوۡا لَہُمۡ شَہَادَۃً اَبَدًا ۚ وَ اُولٰٓئِکَ ہُمُ الۡفٰسِقُوۡنَ ۙ﴿۴﴾
4. And those who accuse chaste women (of adultery) and then do not bring four witnesses, strike them eighty stripes and never accept any testimony from them. And they are the transgressors,
والذين يرمون المحصنات ثم لم يأتوا بأربعة شهداء فاجلدوهم ثمانين جلدة ولا تقبلوا لهم شهادة أبدا وأولئك هم الفاسقون
(النُّوْر، 24 : 4)
وَ الَّذِیۡنَ یَرۡمُوۡنَ اَزۡوَاجَہُمۡ وَ لَمۡ یَکُنۡ لَّہُمۡ شُہَدَآءُ اِلَّاۤ اَنۡفُسُہُمۡ فَشَہَادَۃُ اَحَدِہِمۡ اَرۡبَعُ شَہٰدٰتٍۭ بِاللّٰہِ ۙ اِنَّہٗ لَمِنَ الصّٰدِقِیۡنَ ﴿۶﴾
6. And those who accuse their wives (of adultery), but have no witnesses except themselves, then the testimony of one of them shall be four testimonies, swearing by Allah, that he is indeed among the truthful.
والذين يرمون أزواجهم ولم يكن لهم شهداء إلا أنفسهم فشهادة أحدهم أربع شهادات بالله إنه لمن الصادقين
(النُّوْر، 24 : 6)
وَ یَدۡرَؤُا عَنۡہَا الۡعَذَابَ اَنۡ تَشۡہَدَ اَرۡبَعَ شَہٰدٰتٍۭ بِاللّٰہِ ۙ اِنَّہٗ لَمِنَ الۡکٰذِبِیۡنَ ۙ﴿۸﴾
8. And (similarly,) it shall avert the punishment from her by her testifying with four testimonies, swearing by Allah that he is indeed among the liars.
ويدرؤا عنها العذاب أن تشهد أربع شهادات بالله إنه لمن الكاذبين
(النُّوْر، 24 : 8)
وَ لَوۡ لَا فَضۡلُ اللّٰہِ عَلَیۡکُمۡ وَ رَحۡمَتُہٗ وَ اَنَّ اللّٰہَ تَوَّابٌ حَکِیۡمٌ ﴿٪۱۰﴾
10. Were it not for Allah’s grace and His mercy upon you (then a great affliction would have befallen you). Indeed, Allah is Most-Clement, All-Wise.
ولولا فضل الله عليكم ورحمته وأن الله تواب حكيم
(النُّوْر، 24 : 10)
اِنَّ الَّذِیۡنَ جَآءُوۡ بِالۡاِفۡکِ عُصۡبَۃٌ مِّنۡکُمۡ ؕ لَا تَحۡسَبُوۡہُ شَرًّا لَّکُمۡ ؕ بَلۡ ہُوَ خَیۡرٌ لَّکُمۡ ؕ لِکُلِّ امۡرِیًٴ مِّنۡہُمۡ مَّا اکۡتَسَبَ مِنَ الۡاِثۡمِ ۚ وَ الَّذِیۡ تَوَلّٰی کِبۡرَہٗ مِنۡہُمۡ لَہٗ عَذَابٌ عَظِیۡمٌ ﴿۱۱﴾
11. Indeed, those who fabricated the false accusation were a group among yourselves. Do not consider this to be bad for you. Instead, it was a good thing for you. Each of them will bear (the onus of) the sin he has earned. And as for him who undertook its major part among them, he shall have a great punishment.
* In that you have received Shariah commands regarding this, and also Allah has Himself borne witness to the chastity of ‘A’isha the truthful (may Allah be well pleased with her) which has revealed to you her majesty and dignity.
إن الذين جاؤوا بالإفك عصبة منكم لا تحسبوه شرا لكم بل هو خير لكم لكل امرئ منهم ما اكتسب من الإثم والذي تولى كبره منهم له عذاب عظيم
(النُّوْر، 24 : 11)
لَوۡ لَاۤ اِذۡ سَمِعۡتُمُوۡہُ ظَنَّ الۡمُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ وَ الۡمُؤۡمِنٰتُ بِاَنۡفُسِہِمۡ خَیۡرًا ۙ وَّ قَالُوۡا ہٰذَاۤ اِفۡکٌ مُّبِیۡنٌ ﴿۱۲﴾
12. When you (first) heard this (rumour), why did not the believing men and the believing women think well of their people and declare: ‘This is an obvious slander’?
لولا إذ سمعتموه ظن المؤمنون والمؤمنات بأنفسهم خيرا وقالوا هذا إفك مبين
(النُّوْر، 24 : 12)
لَوۡ لَا جَآءُوۡ عَلَیۡہِ بِاَرۡبَعَۃِ شُہَدَآءَ ۚ فَاِذۡ لَمۡ یَاۡتُوۡا بِالشُّہَدَآءِ فَاُولٰٓئِکَ عِنۡدَ اللّٰہِ ہُمُ الۡکٰذِبُوۡنَ ﴿۱۳﴾
13. Why did they (the slanderers) not bring four witnesses to it? So when they could not produce the witnesses, they were the liars in Allah’s sight.
لولا جاؤوا عليه بأربعة شهداء فإذ لم يأتوا بالشهداء فأولئك عند الله هم الكاذبون
(النُّوْر، 24 : 13)
وَ لَوۡ لَا فَضۡلُ اللّٰہِ عَلَیۡکُمۡ وَ رَحۡمَتُہٗ فِی الدُّنۡیَا وَ الۡاٰخِرَۃِ لَمَسَّکُمۡ فِیۡ مَاۤ اَفَضۡتُمۡ فِیۡہِ عَذَابٌ عَظِیۡمٌ ﴿ۚۖ۱۴﴾
14. Were it not for Allah’s grace upon you and His mercy in this world and the Hereafter, a great punishment would have indeed afflicted you for your having engaged (in vain discourse) concerning it,
ولولا فضل الله عليكم ورحمته في الدنيا والآخرة لمسكم في ما أفضتم فيه عذاب عظيم
(النُّوْر، 24 : 14)
اِذۡ تَلَقَّوۡنَہٗ بِاَلۡسِنَتِکُمۡ وَ تَقُوۡلُوۡنَ بِاَفۡوَاہِکُمۡ مَّا لَیۡسَ لَکُمۡ بِہٖ عِلۡمٌ وَّ تَحۡسَبُوۡنَہٗ ہَیِّنًا ٭ۖ وَّ ہُوَ عِنۡدَ اللّٰہِ عَظِیۡمٌ ﴿۱۵﴾
15. when you passed it from one tongue to the other and spoke with your mouths something which you did not know, supposing it to be a light matter while it was an extremely grave (thing) in Allah’s sight.
إذ تلقونه بألسنتكم وتقولون بأفواهكم ما ليس لكم به علم وتحسبونه هينا وهو عند الله عظيم
(النُّوْر، 24 : 15)
وَ لَوۡ لَاۤ اِذۡ سَمِعۡتُمُوۡہُ قُلۡتُمۡ مَّا یَکُوۡنُ لَنَاۤ اَنۡ نَّتَکَلَّمَ بِہٰذَا ٭ۖ سُبۡحٰنَکَ ہٰذَا بُہۡتَانٌ عَظِیۡمٌ ﴿۱۶﴾
16. And why, when you heard it, did you not say: ‘It is not for us to speak about such a thing. (O Allah!) Glory be to You! This is a heinous slander!’
ولولا إذ سمعتموه قلتم ما يكون لنا أن نتكلم بهذا سبحانك هذا بهتان عظيم
(النُّوْر، 24 : 16)
اِنَّ الَّذِیۡنَ یُحِبُّوۡنَ اَنۡ تَشِیۡعَ الۡفَاحِشَۃُ فِی الَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا لَہُمۡ عَذَابٌ اَلِیۡمٌ ۙ فِی الدُّنۡیَا وَ الۡاٰخِرَۃِ ؕ وَ اللّٰہُ یَعۡلَمُ وَ اَنۡتُمۡ لَا تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ ﴿۱۹﴾
19. Indeed, those who desire that indecency be spread among the believers will have a painful punishment in this world and the Hereafter. And Allah knows (the intentions of such people), while you do not know.
إن الذين يحبون أن تشيع الفاحشة في الذين آمنوا لهم عذاب أليم في الدنيا والآخرة والله يعلم وأنتم لا تعلمون
(النُّوْر، 24 : 19)
وَ لَوۡ لَا فَضۡلُ اللّٰہِ عَلَیۡکُمۡ وَ رَحۡمَتُہٗ وَ اَنَّ اللّٰہَ رَءُوۡفٌ رَّحِیۡمٌ ﴿٪۲۰﴾
20. Were it not for Allah’s grace upon you and His mercy (you would have suffered from a grievous punishment). But Allah is All-Kind, All-Merciful.
ولولا فضل الله عليكم ورحمته وأن الله رؤوف رحيم
(النُّوْر، 24 : 20)
یٰۤاَیُّہَا الَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا لَا تَتَّبِعُوۡا خُطُوٰتِ الشَّیۡطٰنِ ؕ وَ مَنۡ یَّتَّبِعۡ خُطُوٰتِ الشَّیۡطٰنِ فَاِنَّہٗ یَاۡمُرُ بِالۡفَحۡشَآءِ وَ الۡمُنۡکَرِ ؕ وَ لَوۡ لَا فَضۡلُ اللّٰہِ عَلَیۡکُمۡ وَ رَحۡمَتُہٗ مَا زَکٰی مِنۡکُمۡ مِّنۡ اَحَدٍ اَبَدًا ۙ وَّ لٰکِنَّ اللّٰہَ یُزَکِّیۡ مَنۡ یَّشَآءُ ؕ وَ اللّٰہُ سَمِیۡعٌ عَلِیۡمٌ ﴿۲۱﴾
21. O believers! Do not follow in the footsteps of Satan. And whoever follows in Satan’s steps (should know that) he indeed prompts you to indecency and evil. And were it not for Allah’s grace and His mercy upon you, none of you would ever have been pure (from the stain of such slander). But Allah purifies whomever He pleases, and Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
يا أيها الذين آمنوا لا تتبعوا خطوات الشيطان ومن يتبع خطوات الشيطان فإنه يأمر بالفحشاء والمنكر ولولا فضل الله عليكم ورحمته ما زكا منكم من أحد أبدا ولكن الله يزكي من يشاء والله سميع عليم
(النُّوْر، 24 : 21)
وَ لَا یَاۡتَلِ اُولُوا الۡفَضۡلِ مِنۡکُمۡ وَ السَّعَۃِ اَنۡ یُّؤۡتُوۡۤا اُولِی الۡقُرۡبٰی وَ الۡمَسٰکِیۡنَ وَ الۡمُہٰجِرِیۡنَ فِیۡ سَبِیۡلِ اللّٰہِ ۪ۖ وَ لۡیَعۡفُوۡا وَ لۡیَصۡفَحُوۡا ؕ اَلَا تُحِبُّوۡنَ اَنۡ یَّغۡفِرَ اللّٰہُ لَکُمۡ ؕ وَ اللّٰہُ غَفُوۡرٌ رَّحِیۡمٌ ﴿۲۲﴾
22. Let the people of grace and bounty from you not swear against giving (charity) to the relatives, the needy and the emigrants in Allah’s way. They should pardon and overlook (their mistake). Do you not love that Allah should forgive you? And Allah is Most-Forgiving, All-Merciful.
ولا يأتل أولوا الفضل منكم والسعة أن يؤتوا أولي القربى والمساكين والمهاجرين في سبيل الله وليعفوا وليصفحوا ألا تحبون أن يغفر الله لكم والله غفور رحيم
(النُّوْر، 24 : 22)
اِنَّ الَّذِیۡنَ یَرۡمُوۡنَ الۡمُحۡصَنٰتِ الۡغٰفِلٰتِ الۡمُؤۡمِنٰتِ لُعِنُوۡا فِی الدُّنۡیَا وَ الۡاٰخِرَۃِ ۪ وَ لَہُمۡ عَذَابٌ عَظِیۡمٌ ﴿ۙ۲۳﴾
23. Indeed, those who accuse chaste believing women who are unaware (of indecency) shall be cursed in this world and the Hereafter. And there shall be a great punishment for them,
إن الذين يرمون المحصنات الغافلات المؤمنات لعنوا في الدنيا والآخرة ولهم عذاب عظيم
(النُّوْر، 24 : 23)
یَّوۡمَ تَشۡہَدُ عَلَیۡہِمۡ اَلۡسِنَتُہُمۡ وَ اَیۡدِیۡہِمۡ وَ اَرۡجُلُہُمۡ بِمَا کَانُوۡا یَعۡمَلُوۡنَ ﴿۲۴﴾
24. on the Day when their tongues, their hands, and their feet testify against them concerning whatever they used to do.
يوم تشهد عليهم ألسنتهم وأيديهم وأرجلهم بما كانوا يعملون
(النُّوْر، 24 : 24)
یَوۡمَئِذٍ یُّوَفِّیۡہِمُ اللّٰہُ دِیۡنَہُمُ الۡحَقَّ وَ یَعۡلَمُوۡنَ اَنَّ اللّٰہَ ہُوَ الۡحَقُّ الۡمُبِیۡنُ ﴿۲۵﴾
25. On that Day, Allah will pay them their just due in full. And they shall know that Allah is the Manifest Truth.
يومئذ يوفيهم الله دينهم الحق ويعلمون أن الله هو الحق المبين
(النُّوْر، 24 : 25)
اَلۡخَبِیۡثٰتُ لِلۡخَبِیۡثِیۡنَ وَ الۡخَبِیۡثُوۡنَ لِلۡخَبِیۡثٰتِ ۚ وَ الطَّیِّبٰتُ لِلطَّیِّبِیۡنَ وَ الطَّیِّبُوۡنَ لِلطَّیِّبٰتِ ۚ اُولٰٓئِکَ مُبَرَّءُوۡنَ مِمَّا یَقُوۡلُوۡنَ ؕ لَہُمۡ مَّغۡفِرَۃٌ وَّ رِزۡقٌ کَرِیۡمٌ ﴿٪۲۶﴾
26. Wicked women are for wicked men, and wicked men are for wicked women. Virtuous women are for virtuous men, and virtuous men are for virtuous women.* These (chaste people) are innocent of what they (the slanderers) say (about them). They shall have forgiveness and honourable provision.
* So, considering the purity of the Holy Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him), imagine how chaste and pure his wives would be, for Allah has chosen them for him.
الخبيثات للخبيثين والخبيثون للخبيثات والطيبات للطيبين والطيبون للطيبات أولئك مبرؤون مما يقولون لهم مغفرة ورزق كريم
(النُّوْر، 24 : 26)
یٰۤاَیُّہَا الَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا لَا تَدۡخُلُوۡا بُیُوۡتًا غَیۡرَ بُیُوۡتِکُمۡ حَتّٰی تَسۡتَاۡنِسُوۡا وَ تُسَلِّمُوۡا عَلٰۤی اَہۡلِہَا ؕ ذٰلِکُمۡ خَیۡرٌ لَّکُمۡ لَعَلَّکُمۡ تَذَکَّرُوۡنَ ﴿۲۷﴾
27. O believers! Do not enter houses other than yours until you ask permission and greet their residents. That is better for you. Perhaps you may become mindful of advice.
يا أيها الذين آمنوا لا تدخلوا بيوتا غير بيوتكم حتى تستأنسوا وتسلموا على أهلها ذلكم خير لكم لعلكم تذكرون
(النُّوْر، 24 : 27)
فَاِنۡ لَّمۡ تَجِدُوۡا فِیۡہَاۤ اَحَدًا فَلَا تَدۡخُلُوۡہَا حَتّٰی یُؤۡذَنَ لَکُمۡ ۚ وَ اِنۡ قِیۡلَ لَکُمُ ارۡجِعُوۡا فَارۡجِعُوۡا ہُوَ اَزۡکٰی لَکُمۡ ؕ وَ اللّٰہُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ عَلِیۡمٌ ﴿۲۸﴾
28. But if you do not find anyone therein, do not enter until you have been given permission. And if you are asked to go back, then go back. That is more decent for you, and Allah is All-Knowing of what you do.
فإن لم تجدوا فيها أحدا فلا تدخلوها حتى يؤذن لكم وإن قيل لكم ارجعوا فارجعوا هو أزكى لكم والله بما تعملون عليم
(النُّوْر، 24 : 28)
لَیۡسَ عَلَیۡکُمۡ جُنَاحٌ اَنۡ تَدۡخُلُوۡا بُیُوۡتًا غَیۡرَ مَسۡکُوۡنَۃٍ فِیۡہَا مَتَاعٌ لَّکُمۡ ؕ وَ اللّٰہُ یَعۡلَمُ مَا تُبۡدُوۡنَ وَ مَا تَکۡتُمُوۡنَ ﴿۲۹﴾
29. There is no blame upon you for entering those houses where no one lives (i.e. public places), where there is something of benefit for you. And Allah knows whatever you reveal and whatever you conceal.
ليس عليكم جناح أن تدخلوا بيوتا غير مسكونة فيها متاع لكم والله يعلم ما تبدون وما تكتمون
(النُّوْر، 24 : 29)
قُلۡ لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ یَغُضُّوۡا مِنۡ اَبۡصَارِہِمۡ وَ یَحۡفَظُوۡا فُرُوۡجَہُمۡ ؕ ذٰلِکَ اَزۡکٰی لَہُمۡ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰہَ خَبِیۡرٌۢ بِمَا یَصۡنَعُوۡنَ ﴿۳۰﴾
30. Tell the believing men to lower their gaze and guard their private parts. That is more decent for them. Allah is indeed well aware of what they do.
قل للمؤمنين يغضوا من أبصارهم ويحفظوا فروجهم ذلك أزكى لهم إن الله خبير بما يصنعون
(النُّوْر، 24 : 30)
وَ قُلۡ لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنٰتِ یَغۡضُضۡنَ مِنۡ اَبۡصَارِہِنَّ وَ یَحۡفَظۡنَ فُرُوۡجَہُنَّ وَ لَا یُبۡدِیۡنَ زِیۡنَتَہُنَّ اِلَّا مَا ظَہَرَ مِنۡہَا وَ لۡیَضۡرِبۡنَ بِخُمُرِہِنَّ عَلٰی جُیُوۡبِہِنَّ ۪ وَ لَا یُبۡدِیۡنَ زِیۡنَتَہُنَّ اِلَّا لِبُعُوۡلَتِہِنَّ اَوۡ اٰبَآئِہِنَّ اَوۡ اٰبَآءِ بُعُوۡلَتِہِنَّ اَوۡ اَبۡنَآئِہِنَّ اَوۡ اَبۡنَآءِ بُعُوۡلَتِہِنَّ اَوۡ اِخۡوَانِہِنَّ اَوۡ بَنِیۡۤ اِخۡوَانِہِنَّ اَوۡ بَنِیۡۤ اَخَوٰتِہِنَّ اَوۡ نِسَآئِہِنَّ اَوۡ مَا مَلَکَتۡ اَیۡمَانُہُنَّ اَوِ التّٰبِعِیۡنَ غَیۡرِ اُولِی الۡاِرۡبَۃِ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ اَوِ الطِّفۡلِ الَّذِیۡنَ لَمۡ یَظۡہَرُوۡا عَلٰی عَوۡرٰتِ النِّسَآءِ ۪ وَ لَا یَضۡرِبۡنَ بِاَرۡجُلِہِنَّ لِیُعۡلَمَ مَا یُخۡفِیۡنَ مِنۡ زِیۡنَتِہِنَّ ؕ وَ تُوۡبُوۡۤا اِلَی اللّٰہِ جَمِیۡعًا اَیُّہَ الۡمُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ لَعَلَّکُمۡ تُفۡلِحُوۡنَ ﴿۳۱﴾
31. Tell the believing women to lower their gaze, guard their private parts and not display their charms except what (usually) appears. Moreover, let them draw their head-coverings over their bosoms and not reveal their charms (to anyone) except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband’s fathers, or their sons, or their husband’s sons, or their brothers, or their brother’s sons, or their sister’s sons, or their fellow women, or their slave girls, or male attendants lacking sexual desire or children not yet aware of (the attraction of) women’s private parts. And let them not strike their feet such that their hidden charms become known. And repent to Allah, O believers, so that you may prosper.
وقل للمؤمنات يغضضن من أبصارهن ويحفظن فروجهن ولا يبدين زينتهن إلا ما ظهر منها وليضربن بخمرهن على جيوبهن ولا يبدين زينتهن إلا لبعولتهن أو آبائهن أو آباء بعولتهن أو أبنائهن أو أبناء بعولتهن أو إخوانهن أو بني إخوانهن أو بني أخواتهن أو نسائهن أو ما ملكت أيمانهن أو التابعين غير أولي الإربة من الرجال أو الطفل الذين لم يظهروا على عورات النساء ولا يضربن بأرجلهن ليعلم ما يخفين من زينتهن وتوبوا إلى الله جميعا أيها المؤمنون لعلكم تفلحون
(النُّوْر، 24 : 31)
وَ اَنۡکِحُوا الۡاَیَامٰی مِنۡکُمۡ وَ الصّٰلِحِیۡنَ مِنۡ عِبَادِکُمۡ وَ اِمَآئِکُمۡ ؕ اِنۡ یَّکُوۡنُوۡا فُقَرَآءَ یُغۡنِہِمُ اللّٰہُ مِنۡ فَضۡلِہٖ ؕ وَ اللّٰہُ وَاسِعٌ عَلِیۡمٌ ﴿۳۲﴾
32. Marry off the singles among you and those of your male and female slaves who are fit for marriage. If they are poor, Allah will enrich them out of His Grace. And Allah is All-Embracing, All-Knowing.
وأنكحوا الأيامى منكم والصالحين من عبادكم وإمائكم إن يكونوا فقراء يغنهم الله من فضله والله واسع عليم
(النُّوْر، 24 : 32)
وَ لۡیَسۡتَعۡفِفِ الَّذِیۡنَ لَا یَجِدُوۡنَ نِکَاحًا حَتّٰی یُغۡنِیَہُمُ اللّٰہُ مِنۡ فَضۡلِہٖ ؕ وَ الَّذِیۡنَ یَبۡتَغُوۡنَ الۡکِتٰبَ مِمَّا مَلَکَتۡ اَیۡمَانُکُمۡ فَکَاتِبُوۡہُمۡ اِنۡ عَلِمۡتُمۡ فِیۡہِمۡ خَیۡرًا ٭ۖ وَّ اٰتُوۡہُمۡ مِّنۡ مَّالِ اللّٰہِ الَّذِیۡۤ اٰتٰىکُمۡ ؕ وَ لَا تُکۡرِہُوۡا فَتَیٰتِکُمۡ عَلَی الۡبِغَآءِ اِنۡ اَرَدۡنَ تَحَصُّنًا لِّتَبۡتَغُوۡا عَرَضَ الۡحَیٰوۃِ الدُّنۡیَا ؕ وَ مَنۡ یُّکۡرِہۡہُّنَّ فَاِنَّ اللّٰہَ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِ اِکۡرَاہِہِنَّ غَفُوۡرٌ رَّحِیۡمٌ ﴿۳۳﴾
33. Those who do not have the means to marry should keep themselves chaste until Allah enriches them out of His Grace. As for those seeking an emancipation contract from among your slaves, make a contract with them (accordingly) if you know any good in them. Give them some of Allah’s wealth, which He has given you (to help them gain freedom). And do not force your slave girls into prostitution when they wish to remain chaste to seek short-term gains in the worldly life. If anyone forces them (into it), then after their coercion, Allah is indeed All-Forgiving, All-Merciful.
وليستعفف الذين لا يجدون نكاحا حتى يغنيهم الله من فضله والذين يبتغون الكتاب مما ملكت أيمانكم فكاتبوهم إن علمتم فيهم خيرا وآتوهم من مال الله الذي آتاكم ولا تكرهوا فتياتكم على البغاء إن أردن تحصنا لتبتغوا عرض الحياة الدنيا ومن يكرههن فإن الله من بعد إكراههن غفور رحيم
(النُّوْر، 24 : 33)
وَ لَقَدۡ اَنۡزَلۡنَاۤ اِلَیۡکُمۡ اٰیٰتٍ مُّبَیِّنٰتٍ وَّ مَثَلًا مِّنَ الَّذِیۡنَ خَلَوۡا مِنۡ قَبۡلِکُمۡ وَ مَوۡعِظَۃً لِّلۡمُتَّقِیۡنَ ﴿٪۳۴﴾
34. Indeed, We have sent down to you clarifying revelations and a descriptive example of those who have passed before you and advice for the God-conscious.
ولقد أنزلنا إليكم آيات مبينات ومثلا من الذين خلوا من قبلكم وموعظة للمتقين
(النُّوْر، 24 : 34)
اَللّٰہُ نُوۡرُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الۡاَرۡضِ ؕ مَثَلُ نُوۡرِہٖ کَمِشۡکٰوۃٍ فِیۡہَا مِصۡبَاحٌ ؕ اَلۡمِصۡبَاحُ فِیۡ زُجَاجَۃٍ ؕ اَلزُّجَاجَۃُ کَاَنَّہَا کَوۡکَبٌ دُرِّیٌّ یُّوۡقَدُ مِنۡ شَجَرَۃٍ مُّبٰرَکَۃٍ زَیۡتُوۡنَۃٍ لَّا شَرۡقِیَّۃٍ وَّ لَا غَرۡبِیَّۃٍ ۙ یَّکَادُ زَیۡتُہَا یُضِیۡٓءُ وَ لَوۡ لَمۡ تَمۡسَسۡہُ نَارٌ ؕ نُوۡرٌ عَلٰی نُوۡرٍ ؕ یَہۡدِی اللّٰہُ لِنُوۡرِہٖ مَنۡ یَّشَآءُ ؕ وَ یَضۡرِبُ اللّٰہُ الۡاَمۡثَالَ لِلنَّاسِ ؕ وَ اللّٰہُ بِکُلِّ شَیۡءٍ عَلِیۡمٌ ﴿ۙ۳۵﴾
35. Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. His Light is like a niche in which there is a lamp (and) the lamp is in a glass. The glass seems like a glittering star, kindled from a blessed olive tree. It is neither Eastern nor Western (rather universal in its luminosity). Its oil would almost shine, even if no fire touched it. Light upon light! Allah guides whomever He pleases to His Light. And Allah draws such parables for people, and Allah is All-Knowing of everything.*
* The likeness of Allah’s Light refers to the light of Prophet Muhammad (blessings and peace be upon him). The niche refers to his sacred breast wherein the lamp of Prophethood is glowing. This lamp of Prophethood is placed in a glass, which is the radiant heart of the Prophet Muhammad (blessings and peace be upon him). This glass is shining like a glittering star. This lamp is lit with the sacred olive tree, which may refer to the blessing of Divine revelation or the blissful genealogical tree of the Prophets and the Messengers (peace be upon them). The blessing of Prophethood or the guidance of Divine revelation is neither Eastern nor Western. Instead, it is a universal and timeless guidance. This lamp of Muhammad’s Prophethood is almost shining due to its inherent qualities even before revelation had touched him. This Light of Prophethood radiates under the Light of the Holy Essence of God. In such a way, Allah guides people to understand the reality of His Light.
‘Abd Allah b. ‘Abbas (may God be pleased with both of them), ‘Abd Allah b. ‘Umar (may God be pleased with both of them), Ka‘b al-Ahbar, Sa‘id b. Jubayr, Abu al-‘Aliya and al-Dahhak b. Mazahim have described these meanings of the Verse of Light. ‘Abd b. Humayd, Ibn Jarir al-Tabari, Ibn al-Mundhir, Ibn Abi Hatim al-Razi, Abu Mansur al-Maturidi, al-Tabarani, Abu al-Layth al-Samarqandi, al-Sulami, Abu Ishaq al-Tha‘labi, Makki b. Abi Talib al-Muqri, al-Baghawi, al-Qadi ‘Iyad, Ibn ‘Atiyya, Ibn al-Jawzi, Fakhr al-Din al-Razi, al-Qurtubi, Ibn Hayyan, Ibn al-Qayyim, Abu Hafs al-Hanbali, al-Suyuti, al-Qastallani, al-Alusi and many other exegetes have reported the above-mentioned meanings. The parable of the light may also refer to the light in the heart of the believers. The niche can be the breast of the believers, the lamp can be the Qur’an and faith, and the glass can be the heart of the believers. Many other such interpretations have also been given for the Verse of Light.
الله نور السماوات والأرض مثل نوره كمشكاة فيها مصباح المصباح في زجاجة الزجاجة كأنها كوكب دري يوقد من شجرة مباركة زيتونة لا شرقية ولا غربية يكاد زيتها يضيء ولو لم تمسسه نار نور على نور يهدي الله لنوره من يشاء ويضرب الله الأمثال للناس والله بكل شيء عليم
(النُّوْر، 24 : 35)
فِیۡ بُیُوۡتٍ اَذِنَ اللّٰہُ اَنۡ تُرۡفَعَ وَ یُذۡکَرَ فِیۡہَا اسۡمُہٗ ۙ یُسَبِّحُ لَہٗ فِیۡہَا بِالۡغُدُوِّ وَ الۡاٰصَالِ ﴿ۙ۳۶﴾
36. (That light shines) in the houses (of worship) which Allah has ordered to be raised (high in esteem), and wherein His Name is remembered (abundantly). He is glorified therein, morning and evening.
في بيوت أذن الله أن ترفع ويذكر فيها اسمه يسبح له فيها بالغدو والآصال
(النُّوْر، 24 : 36)
رِجَالٌ ۙ لَّا تُلۡہِیۡہِمۡ تِجَارَۃٌ وَّ لَا بَیۡعٌ عَنۡ ذِکۡرِ اللّٰہِ وَ اِقَامِ الصَّلٰوۃِ وَ اِیۡتَآءِ الزَّکٰوۃِ ۪ۙ یَخَافُوۡنَ یَوۡمًا تَتَقَلَّبُ فِیۡہِ الۡقُلُوۡبُ وَ الۡاَبۡصَارُ ﴿٭ۙ۳۷﴾
37. (Blessed with this light are those) men whom neither trading nor selling can distract from the remembrance of Allah, the maintenance of prayer and the giving of alms due. They fear a Day when the hearts and the eyes shall turn about (with terror),
رجال لا تلهيهم تجارة ولا بيع عن ذكر الله وإقام الصلاة وإيتاء الزكاة يخافون يوما تتقلب فيه القلوب والأبصار
(النُّوْر، 24 : 37)
لِیَجۡزِیَہُمُ اللّٰہُ اَحۡسَنَ مَا عَمِلُوۡا وَ یَزِیۡدَہُمۡ مِّنۡ فَضۡلِہٖ ؕ وَ اللّٰہُ یَرۡزُقُ مَنۡ یَّشَآءُ بِغَیۡرِ حِسَابٍ ﴿۳۸﴾
38. (hoping) that Allah may reward them for the best of what they have done and increase them from His grace. And Allah provides for whomever He pleases without measure.
ليجزيهم الله أحسن ما عملوا ويزيدهم من فضله والله يرزق من يشاء بغير حساب
(النُّوْر، 24 : 38)
وَ الَّذِیۡنَ کَفَرُوۡۤا اَعۡمَالُہُمۡ کَسَرَابٍۭ بِقِیۡعَۃٍ یَّحۡسَبُہُ الظَّمۡاٰنُ مَآءً ؕ حَتّٰۤی اِذَا جَآءَہٗ لَمۡ یَجِدۡہُ شَیۡئًا وَّ وَجَدَ اللّٰہَ عِنۡدَہٗ فَوَفّٰىہُ حِسَابَہٗ ؕ وَ اللّٰہُ سَرِیۡعُ الۡحِسَابِ ﴿ۙ۳۹﴾
39. As for the disbelievers, their deeds are like a mirage in a desert plain, which the thirsty man supposes to be water. When he comes upon it, he finds it to be nothing. Instead, there he finds Allah. So He will pay him his account in full. And Allah is swift in reckoning.
والذين كفروا أعمالهم كسراب بقيعة يحسبه الظمآن ماء حتى إذا جاءه لم يجده شيئا ووجد الله عنده فوفاه حسابه والله سريع الحساب
(النُّوْر، 24 : 39)
اَوۡ کَظُلُمٰتٍ فِیۡ بَحۡرٍ لُّجِّیٍّ یَّغۡشٰہُ مَوۡجٌ مِّنۡ فَوۡقِہٖ مَوۡجٌ مِّنۡ فَوۡقِہٖ سَحَابٌ ؕ ظُلُمٰتٌۢ بَعۡضُہَا فَوۡقَ بَعۡضٍ ؕ اِذَاۤ اَخۡرَجَ یَدَہٗ لَمۡ یَکَدۡ یَرٰىہَا ؕ وَ مَنۡ لَّمۡ یَجۡعَلِ اللّٰہُ لَہٗ نُوۡرًا فَمَا لَہٗ مِنۡ نُّوۡرٍ ﴿٪۴۰﴾
40. Or (the disbelievers’ deeds are like) the manifold darkness in a deep sea, covered by waves upon waves, and (further) clouds above them. (These are) manifold (layers of) darkness one above another. When someone brings his hand out, one can hardly see it. And whoever Allah has not blessed with light will have no light (anywhere).
أو كظلمات في بحر لجي يغشاه موج من فوقه موج من فوقه سحاب ظلمات بعضها فوق بعض إذا أخرج يده لم يكد يراها ومن لم يجعل الله له نورا فما له من نور
(النُّوْر، 24 : 40)
اَلَمۡ تَرَ اَنَّ اللّٰہَ یُسَبِّحُ لَہٗ مَنۡ فِی السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الۡاَرۡضِ وَ الطَّیۡرُ صٰٓفّٰتٍ ؕ کُلٌّ قَدۡ عَلِمَ صَلَاتَہٗ وَ تَسۡبِیۡحَہٗ ؕ وَ اللّٰہُ عَلِیۡمٌۢ بِمَا یَفۡعَلُوۡنَ ﴿۴۱﴾
41. Have you not seen that whoever is in the heavens and the earth glorifies Allah, as do the birds spreading their wings? Each indeed knows its (own way of) prayer and glorification. And Allah is All-Knowing of what they do.
ألم تر أن الله يسبح له من في السماوات والأرض والطير صافات كل قد علم صلاته وتسبيحه والله عليم بما يفعلون
(النُّوْر، 24 : 41)
اَلَمۡ تَرَ اَنَّ اللّٰہَ یُزۡجِیۡ سَحَابًا ثُمَّ یُؤَلِّفُ بَیۡنَہٗ ثُمَّ یَجۡعَلُہٗ رُکَامًا فَتَرَی الۡوَدۡقَ یَخۡرُجُ مِنۡ خِلٰلِہٖ ۚ وَ یُنَزِّلُ مِنَ السَّمَآءِ مِنۡ جِبَالٍ فِیۡہَا مِنۡۢ بَرَدٍ فَیُصِیۡبُ بِہٖ مَنۡ یَّشَآءُ وَ یَصۡرِفُہٗ عَنۡ مَّنۡ یَّشَآءُ ؕ یَکَادُ سَنَا بَرۡقِہٖ یَذۡہَبُ بِالۡاَبۡصَارِ ﴿ؕ۴۳﴾
43. Have you not seen that Allah drives the clouds, composes them together, then piles them into layers upon layers, so you see the rain coming out from its midst? And He sends down hail from the sky out of the mountains (of clouds). And He strikes with it whomever He wills and averts it from whomever He wills. The flash of its lightning almost takes away the sight.
ألم تر أن الله يزجي سحابا ثم يؤلف بينه ثم يجعله ركاما فترى الودق يخرج من خلاله وينزل من السماء من جبال فيها من برد فيصيب به من يشاء ويصرفه عن من يشاء يكاد سنا برقه يذهب بالأبصار
(النُّوْر، 24 : 43)
وَ اللّٰہُ خَلَقَ کُلَّ دَآبَّۃٍ مِّنۡ مَّآءٍ ۚ فَمِنۡہُمۡ مَّنۡ یَّمۡشِیۡ عَلٰی بَطۡنِہٖ ۚ وَ مِنۡہُمۡ مَّنۡ یَّمۡشِیۡ عَلٰی رِجۡلَیۡنِ ۚ وَ مِنۡہُمۡ مَّنۡ یَّمۡشِیۡ عَلٰۤی اَرۡبَعٍ ؕ یَخۡلُقُ اللّٰہُ مَا یَشَآءُ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰہَ عَلٰی کُلِّ شَیۡءٍ قَدِیۡرٌ ﴿۴۵﴾
45. Allah created every living creature from water. Among them are some who creep upon their bellies; among them are some who walk upon two feet; and among them are some who walk upon four. Allah creates whatever He wills. Indeed, Allah is All-Capable of everything.
والله خلق كل دابة من ماء فمنهم من يمشي على بطنه ومنهم من يمشي على رجلين ومنهم من يمشي على أربع يخلق الله ما يشاء إن الله على كل شيء قدير
(النُّوْر، 24 : 45)
وَ یَقُوۡلُوۡنَ اٰمَنَّا بِاللّٰہِ وَ بِالرَّسُوۡلِ وَ اَطَعۡنَا ثُمَّ یَتَوَلّٰی فَرِیۡقٌ مِّنۡہُمۡ مِّنۡۢ بَعۡدِ ذٰلِکَ ؕ وَ مَاۤ اُولٰٓئِکَ بِالۡمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ ﴿۴۷﴾
47. They (the hypocrites) say: ‘We believe in Allah and the Messenger, and we obey.’ Then, a group of them turn away after that, and they are not believers.
ويقولون آمنا بالله وبالرسول وأطعنا ثم يتولى فريق منهم من بعد ذلك وما أولئك بالمؤمنين
(النُّوْر، 24 : 47)
وَ اِذَا دُعُوۡۤا اِلَی اللّٰہِ وَ رَسُوۡلِہٖ لِیَحۡکُمَ بَیۡنَہُمۡ اِذَا فَرِیۡقٌ مِّنۡہُمۡ مُّعۡرِضُوۡنَ ﴿۴۸﴾
48. When they are called to Allah and His Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him) so he may judge between them, behold, a group of them turn away (from accepting the authority of the Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him).
وإذا دعوا إلى الله ورسوله ليحكم بينهم إذا فريق منهم معرضون
(النُّوْر، 24 : 48)
اَفِیۡ قُلُوۡبِہِمۡ مَّرَضٌ اَمِ ارۡتَابُوۡۤا اَمۡ یَخَافُوۡنَ اَنۡ یَّحِیۡفَ اللّٰہُ عَلَیۡہِمۡ وَ رَسُوۡلُہٗ ؕ بَلۡ اُولٰٓئِکَ ہُمُ الظّٰلِمُوۡنَ ﴿٪۵۰﴾
50. Is there a disease in their hearts? Or do they have doubts? Or do they fear that Allah and His Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him) will be unjust to them? Instead, it is they who are the wrongdoers.
أفي قلوبهم مرض أم ارتابوا أم يخافون أن يحيف الله عليهم ورسوله بل أولئك هم الظالمون
(النُّوْر، 24 : 50)
اِنَّمَا کَانَ قَوۡلَ الۡمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ اِذَا دُعُوۡۤا اِلَی اللّٰہِ وَ رَسُوۡلِہٖ لِیَحۡکُمَ بَیۡنَہُمۡ اَنۡ یَّقُوۡلُوۡا سَمِعۡنَا وَ اَطَعۡنَا ؕ وَ اُولٰٓئِکَ ہُمُ الۡمُفۡلِحُوۡنَ ﴿۵۱﴾
51. The only response of the (true) believers, when summoned to Allah and His Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him) so he may judge between them, should be to say: ‘We hear and we obey.’ It is they who shall be successful.
إنما كان قول المؤمنين إذا دعوا إلى الله ورسوله ليحكم بينهم أن يقولوا سمعنا وأطعنا وأولئك هم المفلحون
(النُّوْر، 24 : 51)
وَ مَنۡ یُّطِعِ اللّٰہَ وَ رَسُوۡلَہٗ وَ یَخۡشَ اللّٰہَ وَ یَتَّقۡہِ فَاُولٰٓئِکَ ہُمُ الۡفَآئِزُوۡنَ ﴿۵۲﴾
52. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him), and fears Allah and is conscious of Him, it is they who shall be victorious.
ومن يطع الله ورسوله ويخش الله ويتقه فأولئك هم الفائزون
(النُّوْر، 24 : 52)
وَ اَقۡسَمُوۡا بِاللّٰہِ جَہۡدَ اَیۡمَانِہِمۡ لَئِنۡ اَمَرۡتَہُمۡ لَیَخۡرُجُنَّ ؕ قُلۡ لَّا تُقۡسِمُوۡا ۚ طَاعَۃٌ مَّعۡرُوۡفَۃٌ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰہَ خَبِیۡرٌۢ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ ﴿۵۳﴾
53. And they swear by Allah with their most solemn oaths that if you command them, they will surely go forth. Say: ‘Do not swear! (Only) honourable obedience (is required from you). Allah is indeed well aware of what you do.’
وأقسموا بالله جهد أيمانهم لئن أمرتهم ليخرجن قل لا تقسموا طاعة معروفة إن الله خبير بما تعملون
(النُّوْر، 24 : 53)
قُلۡ اَطِیۡعُوا اللّٰہَ وَ اَطِیۡعُوا الرَّسُوۡلَ ۚ فَاِنۡ تَوَلَّوۡا فَاِنَّمَا عَلَیۡہِ مَا حُمِّلَ وَ عَلَیۡکُمۡ مَّا حُمِّلۡتُمۡ ؕ وَ اِنۡ تُطِیۡعُوۡہُ تَہۡتَدُوۡا ؕ وَ مَا عَلَی الرَّسُوۡلِ اِلَّا الۡبَلٰغُ الۡمُبِیۡنُ ﴿۵۴﴾
54. Say: ‘Obey Allah and obey the Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him).’ But if you turn away (from obedience), then (know that) he is responsible only for the duty placed upon him, and you are responsible for the duty placed upon you. If you obey him, you shall be (rightly) guided. And nothing is incumbent upon the Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him) except the clear communication (of the Divine message).
قل أطيعوا الله وأطيعوا الرسول فإن تولوا فإنما عليه ما حمل وعليكم ما حملتم وإن تطيعوه تهتدوا وما على الرسول إلا البلاغ المبين
(النُّوْر، 24 : 54)
وَعَدَ اللّٰہُ الَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا مِنۡکُمۡ وَ عَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ لَیَسۡتَخۡلِفَنَّہُمۡ فِی الۡاَرۡضِ کَمَا اسۡتَخۡلَفَ الَّذِیۡنَ مِنۡ قَبۡلِہِمۡ ۪ وَ لَیُمَکِّنَنَّ لَہُمۡ دِیۡنَہُمُ الَّذِی ارۡتَضٰی لَہُمۡ وَ لَیُبَدِّلَنَّہُمۡ مِّنۡۢ بَعۡدِ خَوۡفِہِمۡ اَمۡنًا ؕ یَعۡبُدُوۡنَنِیۡ لَا یُشۡرِکُوۡنَ بِیۡ شَیۡئًا ؕ وَ مَنۡ کَفَرَ بَعۡدَ ذٰلِکَ فَاُولٰٓئِکَ ہُمُ الۡفٰسِقُوۡنَ ﴿۵۵﴾
55. Allah has promised those among you who believe and perform righteous deeds that He will surely make them successors upon the earth, as He made successors those before them. And He will most certainly establish for them their faith, which He has chosen for them. And He will most surely change them from a state of fear to (one of) security. They shall worship Me, not ascribing any partners to Me. And whoever is ungrateful after that are the ones who are the transgressors.
وعد الله الذين آمنوا منكم وعملوا الصالحات ليستخلفنهم في الأرض كما استخلف الذين من قبلهم وليمكنن لهم دينهم الذي ارتضى لهم وليبدلنهم من بعد خوفهم أمنا يعبدونني لا يشركون بي شيئا ومن كفر بعد ذلك فأولئك هم الفاسقون
(النُّوْر، 24 : 55)
وَ اَقِیۡمُوا الصَّلٰوۃَ وَ اٰتُوا الزَّکٰوۃَ وَ اَطِیۡعُوا الرَّسُوۡلَ لَعَلَّکُمۡ تُرۡحَمُوۡنَ ﴿۵۶﴾
56. Establish the prayer, give the alms due and obey the Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him) so that you may be granted mercy (from Allah).
وأقيموا الصلاة وآتوا الزكاة وأطيعوا الرسول لعلكم ترحمون
(النُّوْر، 24 : 56)
لَا تَحۡسَبَنَّ الَّذِیۡنَ کَفَرُوۡا مُعۡجِزِیۡنَ فِی الۡاَرۡضِ ۚ وَ مَاۡوٰىہُمُ النَّارُ ؕ وَ لَبِئۡسَ الۡمَصِیۡرُ ﴿٪۵۷﴾
57. Let it never occur to you that the disbelievers can escape on the earth (from Allah’s power). Their refuge shall be the Fire. And it is indeed an evil destination.
لا تحسبن الذين كفروا معجزين في الأرض ومأواهم النار ولبئس المصير
(النُّوْر، 24 : 57)
یٰۤاَیُّہَا الَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا لِیَسۡتَاۡذِنۡکُمُ الَّذِیۡنَ مَلَکَتۡ اَیۡمَانُکُمۡ وَ الَّذِیۡنَ لَمۡ یَبۡلُغُوا الۡحُلُمَ مِنۡکُمۡ ثَلٰثَ مَرّٰتٍ ؕ مِنۡ قَبۡلِ صَلٰوۃِ الۡفَجۡرِ وَ حِیۡنَ تَضَعُوۡنَ ثِیَابَکُمۡ مِّنَ الظَّہِیۡرَۃِ وَ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِ صَلٰوۃِ الۡعِشَآءِ ۟ؕ ثَلٰثُ عَوۡرٰتٍ لَّکُمۡ ؕ لَیۡسَ عَلَیۡکُمۡ وَ لَا عَلَیۡہِمۡ جُنَاحٌۢ بَعۡدَہُنَّ ؕ طَوّٰفُوۡنَ عَلَیۡکُمۡ بَعۡضُکُمۡ عَلٰی بَعۡضٍ ؕ کَذٰلِکَ یُبَیِّنُ اللّٰہُ لَکُمُ الۡاٰیٰتِ ؕ وَ اللّٰہُ عَلِیۡمٌ حَکِیۡمٌ ﴿۵۸﴾
58. O believers! Let your (male and female) slaves and those who have not yet reached puberty ask your permission (to come in) at three times: Before the dawn prayer, when you lay your clothes aside at noon (in summer) and after the night prayer. These are three times of privacy for you. Beyond these (timings), there is no blame upon you nor them in visiting one another freely. In this way, Allah makes the revelations clear to you. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
يا أيها الذين آمنوا ليستأذنكم الذين ملكت أيمانكم والذين لم يبلغوا الحلم منكم ثلاث مرات من قبل صلاة الفجر وحين تضعون ثيابكم من الظهيرة ومن بعد صلاة العشاء ثلاث عورات لكم ليس عليكم ولا عليهم جناح بعدهن طوافون عليكم بعضكم على بعض كذلك يبين الله لكم الآيات والله عليم حكيم
(النُّوْر، 24 : 58)
وَ اِذَا بَلَغَ الۡاَطۡفَالُ مِنۡکُمُ الۡحُلُمَ فَلۡیَسۡتَاۡذِنُوۡا کَمَا اسۡتَاۡذَنَ الَّذِیۡنَ مِنۡ قَبۡلِہِمۡ ؕ کَذٰلِکَ یُبَیِّنُ اللّٰہُ لَکُمۡ اٰیٰتِہٖ ؕ وَ اللّٰہُ عَلِیۡمٌ حَکِیۡمٌ ﴿۵۹﴾
59. When the children among you reach puberty, let them ask permission (at all times) just as those (elders) who asked permission before them. In this way, Allah makes His revelations clear to you. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
وإذا بلغ الأطفال منكم الحلم فليستأذنوا كما استأذن الذين من قبلهم كذلك يبين الله لكم آياته والله عليم حكيم
(النُّوْر، 24 : 59)
وَ الۡقَوَاعِدُ مِنَ النِّسَآءِ الّٰتِیۡ لَا یَرۡجُوۡنَ نِکَاحًا فَلَیۡسَ عَلَیۡہِنَّ جُنَاحٌ اَنۡ یَّضَعۡنَ ثِیَابَہُنَّ غَیۡرَ مُتَبَرِّجٰتٍۭ بِزِیۡنَۃٍ ؕ وَ اَنۡ یَّسۡتَعۡفِفۡنَ خَیۡرٌ لَّہُنَّ ؕ وَ اللّٰہُ سَمِیۡعٌ عَلِیۡمٌ ﴿۶۰﴾
60. (As for) older women who no longer anticipate marriage, there will be no sin upon them if they lay their outer garments aside without displaying any charm (of theirs). But if they restrain themselves (by not removing additional outer coverings), it is better for them. And Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
والقواعد من النساء اللاتي لا يرجون نكاحا فليس عليهن جناح أن يضعن ثيابهن غير متبرجات بزينة وأن يستعففن خير لهن والله سميع عليم
(النُّوْر، 24 : 60)
لَیۡسَ عَلَی الۡاَعۡمٰی حَرَجٌ وَّ لَا عَلَی الۡاَعۡرَجِ حَرَجٌ وَّ لَا عَلَی الۡمَرِیۡضِ حَرَجٌ وَّ لَا عَلٰۤی اَنۡفُسِکُمۡ اَنۡ تَاۡکُلُوۡا مِنۡۢ بُیُوۡتِکُمۡ اَوۡ بُیُوۡتِ اٰبَآئِکُمۡ اَوۡ بُیُوۡتِ اُمَّہٰتِکُمۡ اَوۡ بُیُوۡتِ اِخۡوَانِکُمۡ اَوۡ بُیُوۡتِ اَخَوٰتِکُمۡ اَوۡ بُیُوۡتِ اَعۡمَامِکُمۡ اَوۡ بُیُوۡتِ عَمّٰتِکُمۡ اَوۡ بُیُوۡتِ اَخۡوَالِکُمۡ اَوۡ بُیُوۡتِ خٰلٰتِکُمۡ اَوۡ مَا مَلَکۡتُمۡ مَّفَاتِحَہٗۤ اَوۡ صَدِیۡقِکُمۡ ؕ لَیۡسَ عَلَیۡکُمۡ جُنَاحٌ اَنۡ تَاۡکُلُوۡا جَمِیۡعًا اَوۡ اَشۡتَاتًا ؕ فَاِذَا دَخَلۡتُمۡ بُیُوۡتًا فَسَلِّمُوۡا عَلٰۤی اَنۡفُسِکُمۡ تَحِیَّۃً مِّنۡ عِنۡدِ اللّٰہِ مُبٰرَکَۃً طَیِّبَۃً ؕ کَذٰلِکَ یُبَیِّنُ اللّٰہُ لَکُمُ الۡاٰیٰتِ لَعَلَّکُمۡ تَعۡقِلُوۡنَ ﴿٪۶۱﴾
61. There is no blame upon the blind, nor is there blame upon the lame, nor any blame upon the sick, nor upon yourselves, whether you eat from your own houses or the houses of your fathers, or the houses of your mothers, or the houses of your brothers, or the houses of your sisters, or the houses of your paternal uncles, or the houses of your paternal aunts, or the houses of your maternal uncles, or the houses of your maternal aunts, or those (houses) whose keys are in your possession or those of your friends. There will be no blame on you whether you eat together or separately. So, when you enter (your) houses, greet each other with a salutation from Allah, a greeting of blessing and goodness. In this way, Allah clarifies the revelations for you so that you may understand (His commands).
ليس على الأعمى حرج ولا على الأعرج حرج ولا على المريض حرج ولا على أنفسكم أن تأكلوا من بيوتكم أو بيوت آبائكم أو بيوت أمهاتكم أو بيوت إخوانكم أو بيوت أخواتكم أو بيوت أعمامكم أو بيوت عماتكم أو بيوت أخوالكم أو بيوت خالاتكم أو ما ملكتم مفاتحه أو صديقكم ليس عليكم جناح أن تأكلوا جميعا أو أشتاتا فإذا دخلتم بيوتا فسلموا على أنفسكم تحية من عند الله مباركة طيبة كذلك يبين الله لكم الآيات لعلكم تعقلون
(النُّوْر، 24 : 61)
اِنَّمَا الۡمُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ الَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا بِاللّٰہِ وَ رَسُوۡلِہٖ وَ اِذَا کَانُوۡا مَعَہٗ عَلٰۤی اَمۡرٍ جَامِعٍ لَّمۡ یَذۡہَبُوۡا حَتّٰی یَسۡتَاۡذِنُوۡہُ ؕ اِنَّ الَّذِیۡنَ یَسۡتَاۡذِنُوۡنَکَ اُولٰٓئِکَ الَّذِیۡنَ یُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ بِاللّٰہِ وَ رَسُوۡلِہٖ ۚ فَاِذَا اسۡتَاۡذَنُوۡکَ لِبَعۡضِ شَاۡنِہِمۡ فَاۡذَنۡ لِّمَنۡ شِئۡتَ مِنۡہُمۡ وَ اسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لَہُمُ اللّٰہَ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰہَ غَفُوۡرٌ رَّحِیۡمٌ ﴿۶۲﴾
62. Indeed, the believers are only those who (firmly) believe in Allah and His Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him). And when they are with him in a communal matter, they do not depart until they have asked his permission. Indeed, those who ask your permission are the ones who (truly) believe in Allah and His Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him). So when they ask your permission for (attending) some of their (personal) affairs, give permission to whomever of them you please, and seek forgiveness for them from Allah. Indeed, Allah is Most Forgiving, All-Merciful.
إنما المؤمنون الذين آمنوا بالله ورسوله وإذا كانوا معه على أمر جامع لم يذهبوا حتى يستأذنوه إن الذين يستأذنونك أولئك الذين يؤمنون بالله ورسوله فإذا استأذنوك لبعض شأنهم فأذن لمن شئت منهم واستغفر لهم الله إن الله غفور رحيم
(النُّوْر، 24 : 62)
لَا تَجۡعَلُوۡا دُعَآءَ الرَّسُوۡلِ بَیۡنَکُمۡ کَدُعَآءِ بَعۡضِکُمۡ بَعۡضًا ؕ قَدۡ یَعۡلَمُ اللّٰہُ الَّذِیۡنَ یَتَسَلَّلُوۡنَ مِنۡکُمۡ لِوَاذًا ۚ فَلۡیَحۡذَرِ الَّذِیۡنَ یُخَالِفُوۡنَ عَنۡ اَمۡرِہٖۤ اَنۡ تُصِیۡبَہُمۡ فِتۡنَۃٌ اَوۡ یُصِیۡبَہُمۡ عَذَابٌ اَلِیۡمٌ ﴿۶۳﴾
63. (O people!) Do not regard calling the Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him) among you to be like the call of one of you to another. Indeed, Allah knows those among you who quietly slip away under the shelter of others. So let those who go against his orders beware lest a trial should visit them (in this world), or a painful punishment should befall them (in the Hereafter).
لا تجعلوا دعاء الرسول بينكم كدعاء بعضكم بعضا قد يعلم الله الذين يتسللون منكم لواذا فليحذر الذين يخالفون عن أمره أن تصيبهم فتنة أو يصيبهم عذاب أليم
(النُّوْر، 24 : 63)
اَلَاۤ اِنَّ لِلّٰہِ مَا فِی السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الۡاَرۡضِ ؕ قَدۡ یَعۡلَمُ مَاۤ اَنۡتُمۡ عَلَیۡہِ ؕ وَ یَوۡمَ یُرۡجَعُوۡنَ اِلَیۡہِ فَیُنَبِّئُہُمۡ بِمَا عَمِلُوۡا ؕ وَ اللّٰہُ بِکُلِّ شَیۡءٍ عَلِیۡمٌ ﴿٪۶۴﴾
