In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the All-Merciful
اِنَّاۤ اَنۡزَلۡنَاۤ اِلَیۡکَ الۡکِتٰبَ بِالۡحَقِّ فَاعۡبُدِ اللّٰہَ مُخۡلِصًا لَّہُ الدِّیۡنَ ؕ﴿۲﴾
2. Indeed (O Prophet!), We have revealed the Book to you with the truth. So worship Allah, being sincerely devoted to Him in faith.
إنا أنزلنا إليك الكتاب بالحق فاعبد الله مخلصا له الدين
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 2)
اَلَا لِلّٰہِ الدِّیۡنُ الۡخَالِصُ ؕ وَ الَّذِیۡنَ اتَّخَذُوۡا مِنۡ دُوۡنِہٖۤ اَوۡلِیَآءَ ۘ مَا نَعۡبُدُہُمۡ اِلَّا لِیُقَرِّبُوۡنَاۤ اِلَی اللّٰہِ زُلۡفٰی ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰہَ یَحۡکُمُ بَیۡنَہُمۡ فِیۡ مَا ہُمۡ فِیۡہِ یَخۡتَلِفُوۡنَ ۬ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰہَ لَا یَہۡدِیۡ مَنۡ ہُوَ کٰذِبٌ کَفَّارٌ ﴿۳﴾
3. ‘Listen! Exclusive devotion and obedience are only for Allah.’ And those (disbelievers) who take (idols as their) guardians besides Him (claim in false justification of their act:) ‘We only worship them so that they may bring us nearer to Allah.’ Allah Himself will judge between them regarding the matter in which they differ. Indeed, Allah does not guide whoever is a liar and highly ungrateful.
ألا لله الدين الخالص والذين اتخذوا من دونه أولياء ما نعبدهم إلا ليقربونا إلى الله زلفى إن الله يحكم بينهم في ما هم فيه يختلفون إن الله لا يهدي من هو كاذب كفار
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 3)
لَوۡ اَرَادَ اللّٰہُ اَنۡ یَّتَّخِذَ وَلَدًا لَّاصۡطَفٰی مِمَّا یَخۡلُقُ مَا یَشَآءُ ۙ سُبۡحٰنَہٗ ؕ ہُوَ اللّٰہُ الۡوَاحِدُ الۡقَہَّارُ ﴿۴﴾
4. If Allah had desired to beget children (for Himself), He could have chosen whatever He pleased from those He has created. Glory be to Him! He is Allah, the One, the All-Dominant.
لو أراد الله أن يتخذ ولدا لاصطفى مما يخلق ما يشاء سبحانه هو الله الواحد القهار
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 4)
خَلَقَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الۡاَرۡضَ بِالۡحَقِّ ۚ یُکَوِّرُ الَّیۡلَ عَلَی النَّہَارِ وَ یُکَوِّرُ النَّہَارَ عَلَی الَّیۡلِ وَ سَخَّرَ الشَّمۡسَ وَ الۡقَمَرَ ؕ کُلٌّ یَّجۡرِیۡ لِاَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّی ؕ اَلَا ہُوَ الۡعَزِیۡزُ الۡغَفَّارُ ﴿۵﴾
5. He created the heavens and the earth with a truthful purpose. He wraps the night over the day and wraps the day over the night. And He has subjected the sun and the moon, each moving (in its orbit) for a specified time. Behold! He is the All-Mighty, the Most Forgiving.
خلق السماوات والأرض بالحق يكور الليل على النهار ويكور النهار على الليل وسخر الشمس والقمر كل يجري لأجل مسمى ألا هو العزيز الغفار
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 5)
خَلَقَکُمۡ مِّنۡ نَّفۡسٍ وَّاحِدَۃٍ ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِنۡہَا زَوۡجَہَا وَ اَنۡزَلَ لَکُمۡ مِّنَ الۡاَنۡعَامِ ثَمٰنِیَۃَ اَزۡوَاجٍ ؕ یَخۡلُقُکُمۡ فِیۡ بُطُوۡنِ اُمَّہٰتِکُمۡ خَلۡقًا مِّنۡۢ بَعۡدِ خَلۡقٍ فِیۡ ظُلُمٰتٍ ثَلٰثٍ ؕ ذٰلِکُمُ اللّٰہُ رَبُّکُمۡ لَہُ الۡمُلۡکُ ؕ لَاۤ اِلٰہَ اِلَّا ہُوَ ۚ فَاَنّٰی تُصۡرَفُوۡنَ ﴿۶﴾
6. He created you from a single soul and then made a similar pair from it. And He produced for you eight pairs of cattle. He creates you in the wombs of your mothers (in stages), one phase of development after another, in three-fold (germinal) layers (of darkness).* That is Allah, your Lord; to Him belongs all Power and Authority. There is no god except Him. Then, where are you being turned away?
* The realisation that the human embryo develops in stages was not discussed and illustrated until the 15th century. Leonardo da Vinci drew the first known illustration of a foetus in the uterus in the 15th century. After the microscope was discovered in the 17th century by a Dutch microscopist, Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, the early stages of chick embryo were described for the first time in history. The staging of human embryos was not described until the 20th century. Streeter (1941) developed the first system of staging of the human embryo, which has been now replaced by a more accurate system proposed by O Rahilly (1972). Therefore, the three veils of darkness may refer to: (1) the anterior abdominal wall; (2) the uterine wall; and (3) the amniochorionic membrane. According to another interpretation, the three veils of darkness may refer to: (1) chorion; (2) amnion; and (3) amniotic fluid. But the first interpretation is known to be the most logical from an embryological point of view. (See: Arey L. B. in Development of Anatomy: A Textbook and Laboratory Manual of Embryology; Moor, K. L. in The Developing Human Clinically Oriented Embryology; and O Rahilly in R. in Guide to the Staging of Human Embryo.)
خلقكم من نفس واحدة ثم جعل منها زوجها وأنزل لكم من الأنعام ثمانية أزواج يخلقكم في بطون أمهاتكم خلقا من بعد خلق في ظلمات ثلاث ذلكم الله ربكم له الملك لا إله إلا هو فأنى تصرفون
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 6)
اِنۡ تَکۡفُرُوۡا فَاِنَّ اللّٰہَ غَنِیٌّ عَنۡکُمۡ ۟ وَ لَا یَرۡضٰی لِعِبَادِہِ الۡکُفۡرَ ۚ وَ اِنۡ تَشۡکُرُوۡا یَرۡضَہُ لَکُمۡ ؕ وَ لَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَۃٌ وِّزۡرَ اُخۡرٰی ؕ ثُمَّ اِلٰی رَبِّکُمۡ مَّرۡجِعُکُمۡ فَیُنَبِّئُکُمۡ بِمَا کُنۡتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ ؕ اِنَّہٗ عَلِیۡمٌۢ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُوۡرِ ﴿۷﴾
7. If you disbelieve, then surely Allah does not need you, nor does He approve disbelief (or ingratitude) for His servants. And if you give thanks, He will appreciate that for you. No bearer shall bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord will be your return. Then He will inform you of what you used to do. Indeed, He is All-Knowing of what is (hidden) in the breasts.
إن تكفروا فإن الله غني عنكم ولا يرضى لعباده الكفر وإن تشكروا يرضه لكم ولا تزر وازرة وزر أخرى ثم إلى ربكم مرجعكم فينبئكم بما كنتم تعملون إنه عليم بذات الصدور
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 7)
وَ اِذَا مَسَّ الۡاِنۡسَانَ ضُرٌّ دَعَا رَبَّہٗ مُنِیۡبًا اِلَیۡہِ ثُمَّ اِذَا خَوَّلَہٗ نِعۡمَۃً مِّنۡہُ نَسِیَ مَا کَانَ یَدۡعُوۡۤا اِلَیۡہِ مِنۡ قَبۡلُ وَ جَعَلَ لِلّٰہِ اَنۡدَادًا لِّیُضِلَّ عَنۡ سَبِیۡلِہٖ ؕ قُلۡ تَمَتَّعۡ بِکُفۡرِکَ قَلِیۡلًا ٭ۖ اِنَّکَ مِنۡ اَصۡحٰبِ النَّارِ ﴿۸﴾
8. When suffering afflicts human being, he supplicates his Lord, turning to Him penitently. But as soon as He bestows a blessing upon him from Himself, he forgets the One to Whom He had supplicated before. And he (again) sets up rivals to Allah to mislead (others) from His way. Say: ‘(O disbeliever!) Enjoy your disbelief for a short while. Indeed, you are among the inhabitants of the Fire.’
وإذا مس الإنسان ضر دعا ربه منيبا إليه ثم إذا خوله نعمة منه نسي ما كان يدعوا إليه من قبل وجعل لله أندادا ليضل عن سبيله قل تمتع بكفرك قليلا إنك من أصحاب النار
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 8)
اَمَّنۡ ہُوَ قَانِتٌ اٰنَآءَ الَّیۡلِ سَاجِدًا وَّ قَآئِمًا یَّحۡذَرُ الۡاٰخِرَۃَ وَ یَرۡجُوۡا رَحۡمَۃَ رَبِّہٖ ؕ قُلۡ ہَلۡ یَسۡتَوِی الَّذِیۡنَ یَعۡلَمُوۡنَ وَ الَّذِیۡنَ لَا یَعۡلَمُوۡنَ ؕ اِنَّمَا یَتَذَکَّرُ اُولُوا الۡاَلۡبَابِ ٪﴿۹﴾
9. Is he who is devoutly obedient during hours of the night, prostrating and standing (in prayer), fearing the Hereafter and hoping for the mercy of his Lord (better or someone who disobeys Him)? Say: ‘Are those who know equal to those who do not know?’ So, only the people of intellect can accept advice.
أمن هو قانت آناء الليل ساجدا وقائما يحذر الآخرة ويرجوا رحمة ربه قل هل يستوي الذين يعلمون والذين لا يعلمون إنما يتذكر أولوا الألباب
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 9)
قُلۡ یٰعِبَادِ الَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوا اتَّقُوۡا رَبَّکُمۡ ؕ لِلَّذِیۡنَ اَحۡسَنُوۡا فِیۡ ہٰذِہِ الدُّنۡیَا حَسَنَۃٌ ؕ وَ اَرۡضُ اللّٰہِ وَاسِعَۃٌ ؕ اِنَّمَا یُوَفَّی الصّٰبِرُوۡنَ اَجۡرَہُمۡ بِغَیۡرِ حِسَابٍ ﴿۱۰﴾
10. (Esteemed Prophet!) Say (on My behalf): ‘O My servants who believe, be conscious of your Lord. For those who do good in this world, there will be a good (reward in the Hereafter). And Allah’s earth is vast. Indeed, the patient shall be paid their reward in full without reckoning.’
قل يا عباد الذين آمنوا اتقوا ربكم للذين أحسنوا في هذه الدنيا حسنة وأرض الله واسعة إنما يوفى الصابرون أجرهم بغير حساب
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 10)
فَاعۡبُدُوۡا مَا شِئۡتُمۡ مِّنۡ دُوۡنِہٖ ؕ قُلۡ اِنَّ الۡخٰسِرِیۡنَ الَّذِیۡنَ خَسِرُوۡۤا اَنۡفُسَہُمۡ وَ اَہۡلِیۡہِمۡ یَوۡمَ الۡقِیٰمَۃِ ؕ اَلَا ذٰلِکَ ہُوَ الۡخُسۡرَانُ الۡمُبِیۡنُ ﴿۱۵﴾
15. So worship whatever (gods) you wish besides Him.’ Say: ‘Indeed, the (true) losers are the ones who will lose themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection. Beware! That is the most apparent loss.
فاعبدوا ما شئتم من دونه قل إن الخاسرين الذين خسروا أنفسهم وأهليهم يوم القيامة ألا ذلك هو الخسران المبين
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 15)
لَہُمۡ مِّنۡ فَوۡقِہِمۡ ظُلَلٌ مِّنَ النَّارِ وَ مِنۡ تَحۡتِہِمۡ ظُلَلٌ ؕ ذٰلِکَ یُخَوِّفُ اللّٰہُ بِہٖ عِبَادَہٗ ؕ یٰعِبَادِ فَاتَّقُوۡنِ ﴿۱۶﴾
16. There shall be canopies of fire above them and (similar) canopies beneath them. That is how Allah makes His servants fear.’ So, My servants! Be conscious of Me.
لهم من فوقهم ظلل من النار ومن تحتهم ظلل ذلك يخوف الله به عباده يا عباد فاتقون
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 16)
وَ الَّذِیۡنَ اجۡتَنَبُوا الطَّاغُوۡتَ اَنۡ یَّعۡبُدُوۡہَا وَ اَنَابُوۡۤا اِلَی اللّٰہِ لَہُمُ الۡبُشۡرٰی ۚ فَبَشِّرۡ عِبَادِ ﴿ۙ۱۷﴾
17. And those who stay away from worshipping false gods and turn to Allah (alone) will have good news. So give glad tidings to My servants,
والذين اجتنبوا الطاغوت أن يعبدوها وأنابوا إلى الله لهم البشرى فبشر عباد
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 17)
الَّذِیۡنَ یَسۡتَمِعُوۡنَ الۡقَوۡلَ فَیَتَّبِعُوۡنَ اَحۡسَنَہٗ ؕ اُولٰٓئِکَ الَّذِیۡنَ ہَدٰىہُمُ اللّٰہُ وَ اُولٰٓئِکَ ہُمۡ اُولُوا الۡاَلۡبَابِ ﴿۱۸﴾
18. who listen (attentively) to what is said and follow the best (sense) of it—they are the ones whom Allah has rightly guided, and they are ones who possess intellect.
الذين يستمعون القول فيتبعون أحسنه أولئك الذين هداهم الله وأولئك هم أولوا الألباب
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 18)
لٰکِنِ الَّذِیۡنَ اتَّقَوۡا رَبَّہُمۡ لَہُمۡ غُرَفٌ مِّنۡ فَوۡقِہَا غُرَفٌ مَّبۡنِیَّۃٌ ۙ تَجۡرِیۡ مِنۡ تَحۡتِہَا الۡاَنۡہٰرُ ۬ؕ وَعۡدَ اللّٰہِ ؕ لَا یُخۡلِفُ اللّٰہُ الۡمِیۡعَادَ ﴿۲۰﴾
20. But those conscious of their Lord will have elevated mansions (with other) lofty abodes built above them, with rivers flowing beneath them. (That is) the promise of Allah. Allah does not break His promise.
لكن الذين اتقوا ربهم لهم غرف من فوقها غرف مبنية تجري من تحتها الأنهار وعد الله لا يخلف الله الميعاد
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 20)
اَلَمۡ تَرَ اَنَّ اللّٰہَ اَنۡزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَسَلَکَہٗ یَنَابِیۡعَ فِی الۡاَرۡضِ ثُمَّ یُخۡرِجُ بِہٖ زَرۡعًا مُّخۡتَلِفًا اَلۡوَانُہٗ ثُمَّ یَہِیۡجُ فَتَرٰىہُ مُصۡفَرًّا ثُمَّ یَجۡعَلُہٗ حُطَامًا ؕ اِنَّ فِیۡ ذٰلِکَ لَذِکۡرٰی لِاُولِی الۡاَلۡبَابِ ﴿٪۲۱﴾
21. Do you not see that Allah sends down rain from the sky and then channels it as springs under the ground? Then, He produces crops of various colours through it. Then they wither, and you see them turning yellow. Then He makes them crushed and broken into pieces. There is indeed a reminder in that for the possessors of intellect.
ألم تر أن الله أنزل من السماء ماء فسلكه ينابيع في الأرض ثم يخرج به زرعا مختلفا ألوانه ثم يهيج فتراه مصفرا ثم يجعله حطاما إن في ذلك لذكرى لأولي الألباب
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 21)
اَفَمَنۡ شَرَحَ اللّٰہُ صَدۡرَہٗ لِلۡاِسۡلَامِ فَہُوَ عَلٰی نُوۡرٍ مِّنۡ رَّبِّہٖ ؕ فَوَیۡلٌ لِّلۡقٰسِیَۃِ قُلُوۡبُہُمۡ مِّنۡ ذِکۡرِ اللّٰہِ ؕ اُولٰٓئِکَ فِیۡ ضَلٰلٍ مُّبِیۡنٍ ﴿۲۲﴾
22. What about the one whose breast Allah has opened to Islam, so he (walks) in a light from his Lord? Alas, for those whose hearts have been hardened to the remembrance of Allah. It is they who are in clear error.
أفمن شرح الله صدره للإسلام فهو على نور من ربه فويل للقاسية قلوبهم من ذكر الله أولئك في ضلال مبين
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 22)
اَللّٰہُ نَزَّلَ اَحۡسَنَ الۡحَدِیۡثِ کِتٰبًا مُّتَشَابِہًا مَّثَانِیَ ٭ۖ تَقۡشَعِرُّ مِنۡہُ جُلُوۡدُ الَّذِیۡنَ یَخۡشَوۡنَ رَبَّہُمۡ ۚ ثُمَّ تَلِیۡنُ جُلُوۡدُہُمۡ وَ قُلُوۡبُہُمۡ اِلٰی ذِکۡرِ اللّٰہِ ؕ ذٰلِکَ ہُدَی اللّٰہِ یَہۡدِیۡ بِہٖ مَنۡ یَّشَآءُ ؕ وَ مَنۡ یُّضۡلِلِ اللّٰہُ فَمَا لَہٗ مِنۡ ہَادٍ ﴿۲۳﴾
23. Allah has revealed the most beautiful discourse (in the form) of a Book (composed) of similar patterns (in format and meaning) and repeated lessons (in resembling verses) that cause the skins of those who fear their Lord to tremble. Then, their skins and hearts soften at Allah’s remembrance. That is Allah’s guidance through which He guides whomever He wills. And whomever Allah leaves to stray will be left with no guide.
الله نزل أحسن الحديث كتابا متشابها مثاني تقشعر منه جلود الذين يخشون ربهم ثم تلين جلودهم وقلوبهم إلى ذكر الله ذلك هدى الله يهدي به من يشاء ومن يضلل الله فما له من هاد
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 23)
اَفَمَنۡ یَّتَّقِیۡ بِوَجۡہِہٖ سُوۡٓءَ الۡعَذَابِ یَوۡمَ الۡقِیٰمَۃِ ؕ وَ قِیۡلَ لِلظّٰلِمِیۡنَ ذُوۡقُوۡا مَا کُنۡتُمۡ تَکۡسِبُوۡنَ ﴿۲۴﴾
24. What about one who shields himself only with his face from the terrible punishment on the Day of Resurrection? And the wrongdoers will be told: ‘Taste what you used to earn.’
أفمن يتقي بوجهه سوء العذاب يوم القيامة وقيل للظالمين ذوقوا ما كنتم تكسبون
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 24)
فَاَذَاقَہُمُ اللّٰہُ الۡخِزۡیَ فِی الۡحَیٰوۃِ الدُّنۡیَا ۚ وَ لَعَذَابُ الۡاٰخِرَۃِ اَکۡبَرُ ۘ لَوۡ کَانُوۡا یَعۡلَمُوۡنَ ﴿۲۶﴾
26. So Allah made them taste humiliation in the life of this world, and the punishment of the Hereafter will surely be greater. Had they only known!
فأذاقهم الله الخزي في الحياة الدنيا ولعذاب الآخرة أكبر لو كانوا يعلمون
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 26)
ضَرَبَ اللّٰہُ مَثَلًا رَّجُلًا فِیۡہِ شُرَکَآءُ مُتَشٰکِسُوۡنَ وَ رَجُلًا سَلَمًا لِّرَجُلٍ ؕ ہَلۡ یَسۡتَوِیٰنِ مَثَلًا ؕ اَلۡحَمۡدُ لِلّٰہِ ۚ بَلۡ اَکۡثَرُہُمۡ لَا یَعۡلَمُوۡنَ ﴿۲۹﴾
29. Allah draws an example: ‘There is an enslaved person jointly owned by several quarrelling masters. And (on the other hand) there is a person belonging entirely to one master. Are they both equal in condition?’ (Not at all!) All praise belongs to Allah! But most of them do not know.
ضرب الله مثلا رجلا فيه شركاء متشاكسون ورجلا سلما لرجل هل يستويان مثلا الحمد لله بل أكثرهم لا يعلمون
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 29)
اِنَّکَ مَیِّتٌ وَّ اِنَّہُمۡ مَّیِّتُوۡنَ ﴿۫۳۰﴾
30. (Esteemed Prophet!) You will die, and they (too) will indeed die.*
* The difference between the two deaths is worth seeing. As the two slaves mentioned in verse 29 cannot be equal, similarly, it is said that the passing of the Holy Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) and the death of others can never be alike; in reality, both are completely different. A slave owned by one master is safe and secure; in contrast, a slave shared by many masters is ruined. My Beloved Prophet! You are an exclusively chosen and highly esteemed servant of the Lord; you do not share your devotion and loyalty to Him with anyone else. In contrast, the disbelievers share their servitude, devotion and loyalty with many self-made gods. Therefore, death cannot subdue you, but it will make them fall prey to eternal damnation and extinction.
إنك ميت وإنهم ميتون
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 30)
ثُمَّ اِنَّکُمۡ یَوۡمَ الۡقِیٰمَۃِ عِنۡدَ رَبِّکُمۡ تَخۡتَصِمُوۡنَ ﴿٪۳۱﴾
31. Then, on the Day of Resurrection, you will dispute with one another before your Lord.*
* One group will say to the other: ‘You stopped us from understanding the esteemed station of the Prophet and accepting his glorious message.’ Others will reply: ‘No, you were misguided yourselves.’
ثم إنكم يوم القيامة عند ربكم تختصمون
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 31)
فَمَنۡ اَظۡلَمُ مِمَّنۡ کَذَبَ عَلَی اللّٰہِ وَ کَذَّبَ بِالصِّدۡقِ اِذۡ جَآءَہٗ ؕ اَلَیۡسَ فِیۡ جَہَنَّمَ مَثۡوًی لِّلۡکٰفِرِیۡنَ ﴿۳۲﴾
32. So, who is more unjust than the one who attributes lies to Allah and denies the truth when it comes to him? Is not the final abode of the disbelievers in Hell?
فمن أظلم ممن كذب على الله وكذب بالصدق إذ جاءه أليس في جهنم مثوى للكافرين
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 32)
لِیُکَفِّرَ اللّٰہُ عَنۡہُمۡ اَسۡوَاَ الَّذِیۡ عَمِلُوۡا وَ یَجۡزِیَہُمۡ اَجۡرَہُمۡ بِاَحۡسَنِ الَّذِیۡ کَانُوۡا یَعۡمَلُوۡنَ ﴿۳۵﴾
35. (It is) so that Allah may absolve them of the worst of what they did and reward them with the best of what they used to do.
ليكفر الله عنهم أسوأ الذي عملوا ويجزيهم أجرهم بأحسن الذي كانوا يعملون
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 35)
اَلَیۡسَ اللّٰہُ بِکَافٍ عَبۡدَہٗ ؕ وَ یُخَوِّفُوۡنَکَ بِالَّذِیۡنَ مِنۡ دُوۡنِہٖ ؕ وَ مَنۡ یُّضۡلِلِ اللّٰہُ فَمَا لَہٗ مِنۡ ہَادٍ ﴿ۚ۳۶﴾
36. Is Allah not sufficient for His servant? Yet they (the disbelievers) seek to frighten you (Esteemed Prophet) with those (false gods) besides Him! But whoever Allah leaves to stray will be left with no guide.
أليس الله بكاف عبده ويخوفونك بالذين من دونه ومن يضلل الله فما له من هاد
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 36)
وَ لَئِنۡ سَاَلۡتَہُمۡ مَّنۡ خَلَقَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الۡاَرۡضَ لَیَقُوۡلُنَّ اللّٰہُ ؕ قُلۡ اَفَرَءَیۡتُمۡ مَّا تَدۡعُوۡنَ مِنۡ دُوۡنِ اللّٰہِ اِنۡ اَرَادَنِیَ اللّٰہُ بِضُرٍّ ہَلۡ ہُنَّ کٰشِفٰتُ ضُرِّہٖۤ اَوۡ اَرَادَنِیۡ بِرَحۡمَۃٍ ہَلۡ ہُنَّ مُمۡسِکٰتُ رَحۡمَتِہٖ ؕ قُلۡ حَسۡبِیَ اللّٰہُ ؕ عَلَیۡہِ یَتَوَکَّلُ الۡمُتَوَکِّلُوۡنَ ﴿۳۸﴾
38. If you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will surely say: ‘Allah’. Say: ‘Have you considered whatever (idols) you worship besides Allah? If Allah desires (some) harm for me, can they remove His harm? Or if He desires (some) mercy for me, can they withhold His mercy?’ Say: ‘Allah is Sufficient for me. In Him alone, the trusting people should put their trust.’
ولئن سألتهم من خلق السماوات والأرض ليقولن الله قل أفرأيتم ما تدعون من دون الله إن أرادني الله بضر هل هن كاشفات ضره أو أرادني برحمة هل هن ممسكات رحمته قل حسبي الله عليه يتوكل المتوكلون
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 38)
قُلۡ یٰقَوۡمِ اعۡمَلُوۡا عَلٰی مَکَانَتِکُمۡ اِنِّیۡ عَامِلٌ ۚ فَسَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ ﴿ۙ۳۹﴾
39. (Esteemed Prophet!) Say: ‘My people! Act according to your position and ability, (for) I (too) am acting (according to mine). You will soon come to know,
قل يا قوم اعملوا على مكانتكم إني عامل فسوف تعلمون
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 39)
مَنۡ یَّاۡتِیۡہِ عَذَابٌ یُّخۡزِیۡہِ وَ یَحِلُّ عَلَیۡہِ عَذَابٌ مُّقِیۡمٌ ﴿۴۰﴾
40. who is the one whom the punishment will overtake (in this life), which will disgrace him, and upon whom an everlasting torment (of the next life) will descend.’
من يأتيه عذاب يخزيه ويحل عليه عذاب مقيم
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 40)
اِنَّاۤ اَنۡزَلۡنَا عَلَیۡکَ الۡکِتٰبَ لِلنَّاسِ بِالۡحَقِّ ۚ فَمَنِ اہۡتَدٰی فَلِنَفۡسِہٖ ۚ وَ مَنۡ ضَلَّ فَاِنَّمَا یَضِلُّ عَلَیۡہَا ۚ وَ مَاۤ اَنۡتَ عَلَیۡہِمۡ بِوَکِیۡلٍ ﴿٪۴۱﴾
41. Surely, We have revealed the Book to you with the truth for (the guidance of) people. So, whoever chooses to be guided is (guided) for his own benefit, and whoever goes astray strays only to his own detriment. And you are not a guardian over them.
إنا أنزلنا عليك الكتاب للناس بالحق فمن اهتدى فلنفسه ومن ضل فإنما يضل عليها وما أنت عليهم بوكيل
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 41)
اَللّٰہُ یَتَوَفَّی الۡاَنۡفُسَ حِیۡنَ مَوۡتِہَا وَ الَّتِیۡ لَمۡ تَمُتۡ فِیۡ مَنَامِہَا ۚ فَیُمۡسِکُ الَّتِیۡ قَضٰی عَلَیۡہَا الۡمَوۡتَ وَ یُرۡسِلُ الۡاُخۡرٰۤی اِلٰۤی اَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّی ؕ اِنَّ فِیۡ ذٰلِکَ لَاٰیٰتٍ لِّقَوۡمٍ یَّتَفَکَّرُوۡنَ ﴿۴۲﴾
42. Allah takes the souls (of people) at the moment of their death and (the souls of) those who are not dead during their sleep. Then He withholds those (souls) for whom He has ordained death and releases the others until (their) specified time. Indeed, there are signs in that for people who reflect.
الله يتوفى الأنفس حين موتها والتي لم تمت في منامها فيمسك التي قضى عليها الموت ويرسل الأخرى إلى أجل مسمى إن في ذلك لآيات لقوم يتفكرون
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 42)
اَمِ اتَّخَذُوۡا مِنۡ دُوۡنِ اللّٰہِ شُفَعَآءَ ؕ قُلۡ اَوَ لَوۡ کَانُوۡا لَا یَمۡلِکُوۡنَ شَیۡئًا وَّ لَا یَعۡقِلُوۡنَ ﴿۴۳﴾
43. Have they taken (idols as) intercessors besides Allah? Say: ‘Even though they (i.e. the idols) have no authority over anything, nor do they understand?’
أم اتخذوا من دون الله شفعاء قل أولو كانوا لا يملكون شيئا ولا يعقلون
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 43)
قُلۡ لِّلّٰہِ الشَّفَاعَۃُ جَمِیۡعًا ؕ لَہٗ مُلۡکُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الۡاَرۡضِ ؕ ثُمَّ اِلَیۡہِ تُرۡجَعُوۡنَ ﴿۴۴﴾
44. Say: ‘All (permission of) intercession belongs to Allah. To Him belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. Then to Him, you (all) will be returned.’
قل لله الشفاعة جميعا له ملك السماوات والأرض ثم إليه ترجعون
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 44)
وَ اِذَا ذُکِرَ اللّٰہُ وَحۡدَہُ اشۡمَاَزَّتۡ قُلُوۡبُ الَّذِیۡنَ لَا یُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ بِالۡاٰخِرَۃِ ۚ وَ اِذَا ذُکِرَ الَّذِیۡنَ مِنۡ دُوۡنِہٖۤ اِذَا ہُمۡ یَسۡتَبۡشِرُوۡنَ ﴿۴۵﴾
45. Whenever Allah is mentioned alone, the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter get shrunk with aversion. And whenever those (idols) besides Allah are mentioned, they get filled with joy!
وإذا ذكر الله وحده اشمأزت قلوب الذين لا يؤمنون بالآخرة وإذا ذكر الذين من دونه إذا هم يستبشرون
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 45)
قُلِ اللّٰہُمَّ فَاطِرَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الۡاَرۡضِ عٰلِمَ الۡغَیۡبِ وَ الشَّہَادَۃِ اَنۡتَ تَحۡکُمُ بَیۡنَ عِبَادِکَ فِیۡ مَا کَانُوۡا فِیۡہِ یَخۡتَلِفُوۡنَ ﴿۴۶﴾
46. Say: ‘O Allah! The Originator of the heavens and the earth, the Knower of the Unseen and the seen! You will judge between Your servants regarding what they used to dispute.’
قل اللهم فاطر السماوات والأرض عالم الغيب والشهادة أنت تحكم بين عبادك في ما كانوا فيه يختلفون
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 46)
وَ لَوۡ اَنَّ لِلَّذِیۡنَ ظَلَمُوۡا مَا فِی الۡاَرۡضِ جَمِیۡعًا وَّ مِثۡلَہٗ مَعَہٗ لَافۡتَدَوۡا بِہٖ مِنۡ سُوۡٓءِ الۡعَذَابِ یَوۡمَ الۡقِیٰمَۃِ ؕ وَ بَدَا لَہُمۡ مِّنَ اللّٰہِ مَا لَمۡ یَکُوۡنُوۡا یَحۡتَسِبُوۡنَ ﴿۴۷﴾
47. Even if the unjust were to possess everything on the earth and twice of it besides, they will surely seek to ransom themselves with (all of) it from the terrible punishment on the Day of Resurrection. But there will appear to them clearly from Allah what they could never have imagined.
ولو أن للذين ظلموا ما في الأرض جميعا ومثله معه لافتدوا به من سوء العذاب يوم القيامة وبدا لهم من الله ما لم يكونوا يحتسبون
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 47)
وَ بَدَا لَہُمۡ سَیِّاٰتُ مَا کَسَبُوۡا وَ حَاقَ بِہِمۡ مَّا کَانُوۡا بِہٖ یَسۡتَہۡزِءُوۡنَ ﴿۴۸﴾
48. And the evil (consequence) of what they have earned will openly appear to them. And whatever they used to ridicule will besiege them.
وبدا لهم سيئات ما كسبوا وحاق بهم ما كانوا به يستهزءون
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 48)
فَاِذَا مَسَّ الۡاِنۡسَانَ ضُرٌّ دَعَانَا ۫ ثُمَّ اِذَا خَوَّلۡنٰہُ نِعۡمَۃً مِّنَّا ۙ قَالَ اِنَّمَاۤ اُوۡتِیۡتُہٗ عَلٰی عِلۡمٍ ؕ بَلۡ ہِیَ فِتۡنَۃٌ وَّ لٰکِنَّ اَکۡثَرَہُمۡ لَا یَعۡلَمُوۡنَ ﴿۴۹﴾
49. When any suffering afflicts human being, he calls upon Us. Then, when We confer upon him a blessing from Us, he says: ‘I have been granted it because of (my) knowledge.’ Instead, it is just a trial. But most of them do not know.
فإذا مس الإنسان ضر دعانا ثم إذا خولناه نعمة منا قال إنما أوتيته على علم بل هي فتنة ولكن أكثرهم لا يعلمون
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 49)
فَاَصَابَہُمۡ سَیِّاٰتُ مَا کَسَبُوۡا ؕ وَ الَّذِیۡنَ ظَلَمُوۡا مِنۡ ہٰۤؤُلَآءِ سَیُصِیۡبُہُمۡ سَیِّاٰتُ مَا کَسَبُوۡا ۙ وَ مَا ہُمۡ بِمُعۡجِزِیۡنَ ﴿۵۱﴾
51. So the evil (consequence) of what they had earned overtook them. And as for the wrongdoers among these (pagans), the evil (consequence) will (also) overtake them, and they will not be able to escape (from Allah’s might).
فأصابهم سيئات ما كسبوا والذين ظلموا من هؤلاء سيصيبهم سيئات ما كسبوا وما هم بمعجزين
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 51)
اَوَ لَمۡ یَعۡلَمُوۡۤا اَنَّ اللّٰہَ یَبۡسُطُ الرِّزۡقَ لِمَنۡ یَّشَآءُ وَ یَقۡدِرُ ؕ اِنَّ فِیۡ ذٰلِکَ لَاٰیٰتٍ لِّقَوۡمٍ یُّؤۡمِنُوۡنَ ﴿٪۵۲﴾
52. And do they not know that Allah expands provision for whomever He pleases and tightens (it for whomever He wills)? There are indeed signs in that for people who believe.
أولم يعلموا أن الله يبسط الرزق لمن يشاء ويقدر إن في ذلك لآيات لقوم يؤمنون
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 52)
قُلۡ یٰعِبَادِیَ الَّذِیۡنَ اَسۡرَفُوۡا عَلٰۤی اَنۡفُسِہِمۡ لَا تَقۡنَطُوۡا مِنۡ رَّحۡمَۃِ اللّٰہِ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰہَ یَغۡفِرُ الذُّنُوۡبَ جَمِیۡعًا ؕ اِنَّہٗ ہُوَ الۡغَفُوۡرُ الرَّحِیۡمُ ﴿۵۳﴾
53. Say: ‘O My servants who have transgressed against their souls! Do not lose hope in the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah will forgive all sins. Certainly, He is the Most-Forgiving, the All-Merciful.’
قل يا عبادي الذين أسرفوا على أنفسهم لا تقنطوا من رحمة الله إن الله يغفر الذنوب جميعا إنه هو الغفور الرحيم
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 53)
وَ اَنِیۡبُوۡۤا اِلٰی رَبِّکُمۡ وَ اَسۡلِمُوۡا لَہٗ مِنۡ قَبۡلِ اَنۡ یَّاۡتِیَکُمُ الۡعَذَابُ ثُمَّ لَا تُنۡصَرُوۡنَ ﴿۵۴﴾
54. Turn to your Lord in repentance and (fully) submit to Him before the punishment overtakes you. Then you will not be helped.
وأنيبوا إلى ربكم وأسلموا له من قبل أن يأتيكم العذاب ثم لا تنصرون
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 54)
وَ اتَّبِعُوۡۤا اَحۡسَنَ مَاۤ اُنۡزِلَ اِلَیۡکُمۡ مِّنۡ رَّبِّکُمۡ مِّنۡ قَبۡلِ اَنۡ یَّاۡتِیَکُمُ الۡعَذَابُ بَغۡتَۃً وَّ اَنۡتُمۡ لَا تَشۡعُرُوۡنَ ﴿ۙ۵۵﴾
55. And follow the most beautiful (message) that has been revealed to you from your Lord before the punishment comes upon you suddenly, while you are unaware.
واتبعوا أحسن ما أنزل إليكم من ربكم من قبل أن يأتيكم العذاب بغتة وأنتم لا تشعرون
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 55)
اَنۡ تَقُوۡلَ نَفۡسٌ یّٰحَسۡرَتٰی عَلٰی مَا فَرَّطۡتُّ فِیۡ جَنۡۢبِ اللّٰہِ وَ اِنۡ کُنۡتُ لَمِنَ السّٰخِرِیۡنَ ﴿ۙ۵۶﴾
56. Lest any soul should say: ‘Woe to me for what I neglected of my duty to Allah! Indeed, I was among the ridiculers.’
أن تقول نفس يا حسرتى على ما فرطت في جنب الله وإن كنت لمن الساخرين
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 56)
اَوۡ تَقُوۡلَ حِیۡنَ تَرَی الۡعَذَابَ لَوۡ اَنَّ لِیۡ کَرَّۃً فَاَکُوۡنَ مِنَ الۡمُحۡسِنِیۡنَ ﴿۵۸﴾
58. Or one should say when he sees the punishment: ‘If only there had been a second chance for me, I would be among the virtuous.’
أو تقول حين ترى العذاب لو أن لي كرة فأكون من المحسنين
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 58)
بَلٰی قَدۡ جَآءَتۡکَ اٰیٰتِیۡ فَکَذَّبۡتَ بِہَا وَ اسۡتَکۡبَرۡتَ وَ کُنۡتَ مِنَ الۡکٰفِرِیۡنَ ﴿۵۹﴾
59. (Allah will say:) ‘Nay! My revelations did come to you, but you denied them and acted arrogantly, and you were among the disbelievers.’
بلى قد جاءتك آياتي فكذبت بها واستكبرت وكنت من الكافرين
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 59)
وَ یَوۡمَ الۡقِیٰمَۃِ تَرَی الَّذِیۡنَ کَذَبُوۡا عَلَی اللّٰہِ وُجُوۡہُہُمۡ مُّسۡوَدَّۃٌ ؕ اَلَیۡسَ فِیۡ جَہَنَّمَ مَثۡوًی لِّلۡمُتَکَبِّرِیۡنَ ﴿۶۰﴾
60. On the Day of Resurrection, you will see those who attributed lies to Allah having their faces blackened. Is not the final abode of the arrogant in Hell?
ويوم القيامة ترى الذين كذبوا على الله وجوههم مسودة أليس في جهنم مثوى للمتكبرين
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 60)
وَ یُنَجِّی اللّٰہُ الَّذِیۡنَ اتَّقَوۡا بِمَفَازَتِہِمۡ ۫ لَا یَمَسُّہُمُ السُّوۡٓءُ وَ لَا ہُمۡ یَحۡزَنُوۡنَ ﴿۶۱﴾
61. Allah will deliver those who were God-conscious, bestowing (them) with (ultimate) success. No evil will touch them, nor will they grieve.
وينجي الله الذين اتقوا بمفازتهم لا يمسهم السوء ولا هم يحزنون
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 61)
لَہٗ مَقَالِیۡدُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الۡاَرۡضِ ؕ وَ الَّذِیۡنَ کَفَرُوۡا بِاٰیٰتِ اللّٰہِ اُولٰٓئِکَ ہُمُ الۡخٰسِرُوۡنَ ﴿٪۶۳﴾
63. To Him belong the keys (to the treasures) of the heavens and the earth. And those who disbelieve in the revelations of Allah, it is they who are the losers.
له مقاليد السماوات والأرض والذين كفروا بآيات الله أولئك هم الخاسرون
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 63)
وَ لَقَدۡ اُوۡحِیَ اِلَیۡکَ وَ اِلَی الَّذِیۡنَ مِنۡ قَبۡلِکَ ۚ لَئِنۡ اَشۡرَکۡتَ لَیَحۡبَطَنَّ عَمَلُکَ وَ لَتَکُوۡنَنَّ مِنَ الۡخٰسِرِیۡنَ ﴿۶۵﴾
65. Indeed, it has been revealed to you and those before you: ‘(O people!) If you ascribe partners (to Allah), your deeds will certainly be void, and you shall surely be among the losers.
ولقد أوحي إليك وإلى الذين من قبلك لئن أشركت ليحبطن عملك ولتكونن من الخاسرين
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 65)
وَ مَا قَدَرُوا اللّٰہَ حَقَّ قَدۡرِہٖ ٭ۖ وَ الۡاَرۡضُ جَمِیۡعًا قَبۡضَتُہٗ یَوۡمَ الۡقِیٰمَۃِ وَ السَّمٰوٰتُ مَطۡوِیّٰتٌۢ بِیَمِیۡنِہٖ ؕ سُبۡحٰنَہٗ وَ تَعٰلٰی عَمَّا یُشۡرِکُوۡنَ ﴿۶۷﴾
67. They do not appreciate Allah’s Glory with the appreciation that is due to Him. Yet the entire earth will be in His Grip on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens will be rolled up in His right Hand. Glory be to Him (and) Exalted is He above whatever they associate (with Him).
وما قدروا الله حق قدره والأرض جميعا قبضته يوم القيامة والسماوات مطويات بيمينه سبحانه وتعالى عما يشركون
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 67)
وَ نُفِخَ فِی الصُّوۡرِ فَصَعِقَ مَنۡ فِی السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ مَنۡ فِی الۡاَرۡضِ اِلَّا مَنۡ شَآءَ اللّٰہُ ؕ ثُمَّ نُفِخَ فِیۡہِ اُخۡرٰی فَاِذَا ہُمۡ قِیَامٌ یَّنۡظُرُوۡنَ ﴿۶۸﴾
68. The Trumpet will be blown. And whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth will fall senseless, except whomever Allah pleases. Then it will be blown a second time, and they will stand up at once, awaiting.
ونفخ في الصور فصعق من في السماوات ومن في الأرض إلا من شاء الله ثم نفخ فيه أخرى فإذا هم قيام ينظرون
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 68)
وَ اَشۡرَقَتِ الۡاَرۡضُ بِنُوۡرِ رَبِّہَا وَ وُضِعَ الۡکِتٰبُ وَ جِایۡٓءَ بِالنَّبِیّٖنَ وَ الشُّہَدَآءِ وَ قُضِیَ بَیۡنَہُمۡ بِالۡحَقِّ وَ ہُمۡ لَا یُظۡلَمُوۡنَ ﴿۶۹﴾
69. And the earth will shine with the Light of its Lord, and the Record (of people’s deeds) shall be laid down. And the prophets and the witnesses will be brought forward, and the judgement will be passed between them with justice. And they will not be wronged.
وأشرقت الأرض بنور ربها ووضع الكتاب وجيء بالنبيين والشهداء وقضي بينهم بالحق وهم لا يظلمون
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 69)
وَ سِیۡقَ الَّذِیۡنَ کَفَرُوۡۤا اِلٰی جَہَنَّمَ زُمَرًا ؕ حَتّٰۤی اِذَا جَآءُوۡہَا فُتِحَتۡ اَبۡوَابُہَا وَ قَالَ لَہُمۡ خَزَنَتُہَاۤ اَلَمۡ یَاۡتِکُمۡ رُسُلٌ مِّنۡکُمۡ یَتۡلُوۡنَ عَلَیۡکُمۡ اٰیٰتِ رَبِّکُمۡ وَ یُنۡذِرُوۡنَکُمۡ لِقَآءَ یَوۡمِکُمۡ ہٰذَا ؕ قَالُوۡا بَلٰی وَ لٰکِنۡ حَقَّتۡ کَلِمَۃُ الۡعَذَابِ عَلَی الۡکٰفِرِیۡنَ ﴿۷۱﴾
71. And those who disbelieve will be driven to Hell in groups. When they arrive there, its gates will be opened (then). Its keepers will say to them: ‘Did messengers not come to you from among yourselves, reciting upon you the verses of your Lord and warning you about the meeting of this Day of yours.’ They will say: ‘Yes, (they came).’ But the decree of the punishment had become due against the disbelievers.
وسيق الذين كفروا إلى جهنم زمرا حتى إذا جاؤوها فتحت أبوابها وقال لهم خزنتها ألم يأتكم رسل منكم يتلون عليكم آيات ربكم وينذرونكم لقاء يومكم هذا قالوا بلى ولكن حقت كلمة العذاب على الكافرين
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 71)
وَ سِیۡقَ الَّذِیۡنَ اتَّقَوۡا رَبَّہُمۡ اِلَی الۡجَنَّۃِ زُمَرًا ؕ حَتّٰۤی اِذَا جَآءُوۡہَا وَ فُتِحَتۡ اَبۡوَابُہَا وَ قَالَ لَہُمۡ خَزَنَتُہَا سَلٰمٌ عَلَیۡکُمۡ طِبۡتُمۡ فَادۡخُلُوۡہَا خٰلِدِیۡنَ ﴿۷۳﴾
73. Those who were conscious of their Lord will be led to Paradise in (respectful) congregations. When they arrive there, its gates will already be opened. Its keepers will say to them: ‘Peace be upon you! You are welcome! Enter it to remain here forever.’
وسيق الذين اتقوا ربهم إلى الجنة زمرا حتى إذا جاؤوها وفتحت أبوابها وقال لهم خزنتها سلام عليكم طبتم فادخلوها خالدين
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 73)
وَ قَالُوا الۡحَمۡدُ لِلّٰہِ الَّذِیۡ صَدَقَنَا وَعۡدَہٗ وَ اَوۡرَثَنَا الۡاَرۡضَ نَتَبَوَّاُ مِنَ الۡجَنَّۃِ حَیۡثُ نَشَآءُ ۚ فَنِعۡمَ اَجۡرُ الۡعٰمِلِیۡنَ ﴿۷۴﴾
74. They will say: ‘All praise belongs to Allah, Who has fulfilled His promise to us and made us inherit the (everlasting) land, that we may settle in Paradise wherever we wish.’ So, how excellent is the reward for the (righteous) workers!
وقالوا الحمد لله الذي صدقنا وعده وأورثنا الأرض نتبوأ من الجنة حيث نشاء فنعم أجر العاملين
(الزُّمَر، 39 : 74)
وَ تَرَی الۡمَلٰٓئِکَۃَ حَآفِّیۡنَ مِنۡ حَوۡلِ الۡعَرۡشِ یُسَبِّحُوۡنَ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّہِمۡ ۚ وَ قُضِیَ بَیۡنَہُمۡ بِالۡحَقِّ وَ قِیۡلَ الۡحَمۡدُ لِلّٰہِ رَبِّ الۡعٰلَمِیۡنَ ﴿٪۷۵﴾
