لَاۤ اُقۡسِمُ بِہٰذَا الۡبَلَدِ ۙ﴿۱﴾

1. میں اس شہر (مکہ) کی قَسم کھاتا ہوںo

1. I swear by this city (of Mecca),

(الْبَلَد، 90 : 1)

وَ اَنۡتَ حِلٌّۢ بِہٰذَا الۡبَلَدِ ۙ﴿۲﴾

2. (اے حبیبِ مکرّم!) اس لئے کہ آپ اس شہر میں تشریف فرما ہیں٭o

٭ یہ ترجمہ ”لا زائدہ“ کے اعتبار سے ہے۔ لا ”نفئ صحیح“ کے لئے ہو تو ترجمہ یوں ہوگا: میں (اس وقت) اس شہر کی قَسم نہیں کھاؤں گا (اے حبیب!) جب آپ اس شہر سے رخصت ہو جائیں گے۔

2. as you reside in this city* (O Esteemed Prophet!).

* In the first verse, the particle la has come for emphasis, not negation. According to some scholars, the particle la may also refer to the true negation. In this case, the translation will be: ‘I will not swear by this city (O Prophet!) when you depart from this city.’ According to another linguistic probability, if the particle la is for the negating rhetorical question (<i>al-istifham al-inkari</i>), in this case, the translation will be: ‘Why should I not swear by this city (O Prophet!), while you reside there?’

(الْبَلَد، 90 : 2)

وَ وَالِدٍ وَّ مَا وَلَدَ ۙ﴿۳﴾

3. (اے حبیبِ مکرّم! آپ کے) والد (آدم یا ابراہیم علیہما السلام) کی قَسم اور (ان کی) قَسم جن کی ولادت ہوئی٭o

٭ یعنی آدم علیہ السلام کی ذریّتِ صالحہ یا آپ ہی کی ذات گرامی جن کے باعث یہ شہرِ مکہ بھی لائقِ قَسم ٹھہرا ہے۔

3. By the father and that whom he begot,*

* This refers to Adam and his progeny or every begetter and every begotten, indicating all of humanity from the first to the last. This phrase can also refer to Prophets Ibrahim and Isma‘il. It may also refer to Prophet Isma‘il and his progeny up to Prophet Muhammad (blessings and peace be upon him), or Prophet Ibrahim and his progeny until the birth of Prophet Muhammad (blessings and peace be upon him) in Mecca. For that reason, this city has become worthy of Allah’s oath.

(الْبَلَد، 90 : 3)

لَقَدۡ مَنَّ اللّٰہُ عَلَی الۡمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ اِذۡ بَعَثَ فِیۡہِمۡ رَسُوۡلًا مِّنۡ اَنۡفُسِہِمۡ یَتۡلُوۡا عَلَیۡہِمۡ اٰیٰتِہٖ وَ یُزَکِّیۡہِمۡ وَ یُعَلِّمُہُمُ الۡکِتٰبَ وَ الۡحِکۡمَۃَ ۚ وَ اِنۡ کَانُوۡا مِنۡ قَبۡلُ لَفِیۡ ضَلٰلٍ مُّبِیۡنٍ ﴿۱۶۴﴾

164. بیشک اللہ نے مسلمانوں پر بڑا احسان فرمایا کہ ان میں انہی میں سے (عظمت والا) رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) بھیجا جو ان پر اس کی آیتیں پڑھتا اور انہیں پاک کرتا ہے اور انہیں کتاب و حکمت کی تعلیم دیتا ہے، اگرچہ وہ لوگ اس سے پہلے کھلی گمراہی میں تھےo

164. Indeed, Allah conferred a great favour on the believers when He raised among them a Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him) from themselves, who recites to them His revelations, purifies them, and teaches them the Book and Wisdom, while they had previously been in manifest error.

(آل عِمْرَان، 3 : 164)

یٰۤاَیُّہَا النَّاسُ قَدۡ جَآءَکُمُ الرَّسُوۡلُ بِالۡحَقِّ مِنۡ رَّبِّکُمۡ فَاٰمِنُوۡا خَیۡرًا لَّکُمۡ ؕ وَ اِنۡ تَکۡفُرُوۡا فَاِنَّ لِلّٰہِ مَا فِی السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الۡاَرۡضِ ؕ وَ کَانَ اللّٰہُ عَلِیۡمًا حَکِیۡمًا ﴿۱۷۰﴾

170. اے لوگو! بیشک تمہارے پاس یہ رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) تمہارے رب کی طرف سے حق کے ساتھ تشریف لایا ہے، سو تم (ان پر) اپنی بہتری کے لئے ایمان لے آؤ اور اگر تم کفر (یعنی ان کی رسالت سے انکار) کرو گے تو (جان لو وہ تم سے بے نیاز ہے کیونکہ) جو کچھ آسمانوں اور زمین میں ہے یقیناً (وہ سب) اللہ ہی کا ہے اور اللہ خوب جاننے والا بڑی حکمت والا ہےo

170. O people! Indeed the Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him) has come to you with the truth from your Lord. So believe! It is better for you. And if you disbelieve, still to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

(النِّسَآء، 4 : 170)

لَقَدۡ جَآءَکُمۡ رَسُوۡلٌ مِّنۡ اَنۡفُسِکُمۡ عَزِیۡزٌ عَلَیۡہِ مَا عَنِتُّمۡ حَرِیۡصٌ عَلَیۡکُمۡ بِالۡمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ رَءُوۡفٌ رَّحِیۡمٌ ﴿۱۲۸﴾

128. بیشک تمہارے پاس تم میں سے (ایک باعظمت) رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) تشریف لائے۔ تمہارا تکلیف و مشقت میں پڑنا ان پر سخت گراں (گزرتا) ہے۔ (اے لوگو!) وہ تمہارے لئے (بھلائی اور ہدایت کے) بڑے طالب و آرزو مند رہتے ہیں (اور) مومنوں کے لئے نہایت (ہی) شفیق بے حد رحم فرمانے والے ہیںo

128. Indeed, a Messenger has come to you from among yourselves. Very stressful for him (blessings and peace be upon him) is your suffering. He is deeply concerned for your well-being and is most kind and merciful to the believers.

(التَّوْبَة، 9 : 128)

ہُوَ الَّذِیۡ بَعَثَ فِی الۡاُمِّیّٖنَ رَسُوۡلًا مِّنۡہُمۡ یَتۡلُوۡا عَلَیۡہِمۡ اٰیٰتِہٖ وَ یُزَکِّیۡہِمۡ وَ یُعَلِّمُہُمُ الۡکِتٰبَ وَ الۡحِکۡمَۃَ ٭ وَ اِنۡ کَانُوۡا مِنۡ قَبۡلُ لَفِیۡ ضَلٰلٍ مُّبِیۡنٍ ۙ﴿۲﴾

2. وہی ہے جس نے اَن پڑھ لوگوں میں انہی میں سے ایک (با عظمت) رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو بھیجا وہ اُن پر اُس کی آیتیں پڑھ کر سناتے ہیں اور اُن (کے ظاہر و باطن) کو پاک کرتے ہیں اور انہیں کتاب و حکمت کی تعلیم دیتے ہیں، بیشک وہ لوگ اِن (کے تشریف لانے) سے پہلے کھلی گمراہی میں تھےo

2. He is the One Who sent among the unlettered people a Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him) from among themselves, who recites His revelations to them, purifies them (spiritually) and teaches them the Book and wisdom. Indeed, they had previously been in clear error,

(الْجُمُعَة، 62 : 2)
